Education Course Advice Course Surf Rescue Certificate (SRC2) General The Surf Rescue Certificate (SRC) course is the entry level award which enables holders to perform patrol and water safety duties. On successful completion, it is expected that you will commit to performing regular patrols and/or offer service for water safety. The SRC qualification is often undertaken by parents of Nipper members, in order to assure sufficient water safety personnel are available for club activities, training and competition Date starting 20 October 2015 Prerequisites  Currently financial club member  Minimum age 13 years at time of assessment  Parental approval if under 18 years of age Induction 20 October 2015 @ 7pm in the club Lounge Theory sessions Tuesday’s – 7pm to 9pm Practical sessions Saturdays and Sundays – TBC each day Register Contact the club office and request to be added to the course list – not later than Wednesday 14 October 2015 at 12 noon Cost $80.00 per person; please pay before the course commences Learning materials SLSA Public Safety and Aquatic Rescue Manual – included in course cost SRC Workbook – included in course cost What to bring  Personal beach gear; include warm clothing  A wet suit is recommended, for courses early in the season  Sunscreen  Drinks – water; hot drink (especially if the weather is cold)  Snacks as preferred Course duration Anticipate six (6) weeks; this will depend on weather and the rate of development of the required skills Assessment  SRC Workbook is completed to the required standard  Preliminary assessment – theory and practical  Theory final assessment  Practical skills final assessment Lead Trainer Tracey Tenaglia Manager of Education Rachael Crabb Expectations  Be actively involved – work as a team  Be punctual for each session  Remain for the whole of each session  Ask questions if unsure of anything  Advise one of the Trainers if you cannot attend any session Questions The first theory session includes a course overview and Induction.
