Do you love getting out on your bike, taking shortcuts on foot, or people watching on public transport? Have you got a camera, a pen, a mic or a good idea? Then tell us about it! Who can enter? Entry will be accepted from individual students or from teams of students from Smarter Travel Campus Partners only (please see www.smartertravelcampus.ie for the list of Partners). Each team can have a maximum of 6 members. This competition is not open to staff in Partner organisations, but staff are welcome to give guidance to students in relation to production (e.g. technical issues).

What can I enter? Your entry must showcase any/ many positive aspect(s) of sustainable travel.

You can enter any form of multimedia, including for example - text, graphics, video, interactive content, animation, installations and audio.

Your entry can be documentary, mockumentary, montage, demonstration, magazine style or whatever you wish, and can include stills, animation, photos, interviews, vox pops, or whatever format you wish to use.

The approach and content are entirely up to the production team/ individual.

Below are the suggested themes/ taglines for 2017, but if you’ve got a creative idea you’d like to cover, that’s fine too.  The moment my legs begin to move, my thoughts begin to flow…  Sweat like a pig to look like a fox  I don’t sweat, I sparkle!  I want to ride my bicycle, I want to ride my bike  Runaround town, put the pedal to the metal  Why I walk/ cycle/ take public transport  Demonstration – how to… fix a puncture, spruce your bike up etc.  Local facilities for walking, cycling, public transport or car sharing in your campus (or county or on your journey to campus)  Healthy mind, healthy body  My bike and I  Learning to ride a bike  A walk with friends  From A to B  Two’s company, three’s allowed – Carshare!

Audio, Animation, Video or Interactive Content –  Entries must be minimum 45 seconds/ maximum 180 seconds including credits.  Note for radio ads we will accept entries that are a minimum of 15 seconds in length and a maximum of 45 seconds.  Entries which do not meet the minimum/ maximum time limit will be penalised when being marked.  You don't need an expensive video camera or recording device to participate in this competition – you can use a digital camera, a phone or any other recording device.  As your entry may be shown on larger screens at future Smarter Travel Campus events, please record/ save it at the highest resolution you can.

How to submit Video Entries:  Video files should be saved as either QuickTime .MOV, Windows .AVI, or .MPG files. For video, the original resolution of your video - for HD is 1920 x1080 (1080p) or 1280 x 720.  When you’re happy with your entry, please upload it to YouTube or Vimeo.  If you don’t already have an account on YouTube or VIMEO, you need to register at: http://www.youtube.com http://www.vimeo.com  Details of how to upload videos to YouTube can be found here – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hlxqk0iHp5w Details of how to upload videos to Vimeo can be found here – http://vimeo.com/help/faq/uploading-to-vimeo

How to submit Audio Entries:  When you’re happy with your entry, upload it to SoundCloud or AudioBoom – preferably as a WAV file, but MP3s will also be accepted.  If you don’t already have an account on SoundCloud or AudioBoom, you can sign up at: www.audioboom.com or www.soundcloud.com  Details of how to record or upload files can be found on both sites when you are logged in (see ‘How to’ section on AudioBoom, and Help Forum or Upload on SoundCloud).

Audio and Video entries  Once you’ve uploaded your audio or video entry, you will be assigned a unique URL - please save this URL and include it in your entry form(s).  You can enter as many times as you like, but will need to do a separate entry form for each entry.  When you've got your URL and filled out your entry form, please email the completed entry form to [email protected]

Please note! Sending us the URL for your audio or video entry allows us to view it and share it with the judges. However we may also require your files to show at the Smarter Travel Awards or other Smarter Travel Campus/ Smarter Travel Workplaces events. Please keep your files safe! We will be in touch with instructions for sending your files to us in due course.

3 | P a g e S m a r t e r T r a v e l C a m p u s M u l t i m e d i a A w a r d s 2 0 1 7 How to submit your Interactive entry:  Interactive content should be submitted by USB or CD by post to Smarter Travel Campus Multimedia Awards, National Transport Authority, Dun Sceine, Iveagh Court, Harcourt Lane, Dublin 2.  You can enter as many times as you like, but be sure to include a separate Entry Form with each entry.  For installations, once your installation is in place, take a high quality photo of your entry, and submit it in high resolution either by USB/ CD in the post, or by email. Ensure you’ve got a safe place to store your installation, as it may be required for display at the Smarter Travel Multimedia Awards, the national Smarter Travel Awards or other Smarter Travel events.

Text or Graphics  Students can enter paint, pencil, chalk, photographs, mixed media or CAD designs.  Your entry can be in any style.  The maximum size for each entry is A1.

How to submit your Text/ Graphics Entry:  To ensure the safe-keeping of your entry, please package your original artwork appropriately when submitting it.  Please send your entry form and artwork to: Smarter Travel Campus Multimedia Awards, National Transport Authority, Dun Sceine, Iveagh Court, Harcourt Lane, Dublin 2.  You can enter as many times as you like, but be sure to include a separate Entry Form with each entry.  The National Transport Authority will not be held responsible for any damage to artwork submitted as part of this competition.  Original artwork can be collected from the National Transport Authority after judging has concluded and winners are announced. It is anticipated that this will be in April 2017. Collection is by prior arrangement, contact [email protected] to arrange a collection time/ date.

When is the Deadline for Entry? The deadline for entry is Friday the 24th of February 2017.

When will Winners be Announced? Winners will be announced in March/ April 2017 with award events taking place towards the end of April 2017. Winners will also be invited to be part of our national Smarter Travel Awards in April 2017.

Winners Showcase Shortlisted entries will be showcased at the Smarter Travel Awards 2017 and on National Transport Authority websites, and social media. Those shortlisted may be invited to present their work and participate in showcase sessions.

Honorary mention may not be solely confined to the prize winners and other entries may be invited to attend or display their entries.

By entering this competition, you acknowledge that your entry (including name (team if relevant) and campus) may be shown on National Transport Authority websites/ social media, at Authority events/ seminars, in Partner campuses and other publications/ events associated with the Smarter Travel Campus/ Smarter Travel Workplaces programmes.

The winning entries must be made available to the Smarter Travel Campus programme/ National Transport Authority. For graphic/ text entries – the original artwork must be made available. For audio/ video entries, the entry must be made available in a high resolution format. For installations/ interactive entries, original material may be required for display at awards ceremonies and prize givings.

Who are the Judges? Details of the judging panel will be published on the Smarter Travel Campus website in 2017. The panel will include a representative of the National Transport Authority and external creative(s).

Prizes There will be prizes for first, second and third places overall (not by type of media entered), with a maximum of six students being awarded for each category.

Details of prizes will be announced on our website.

Winning entries will also be showcased at the National Smarter Travel Awards 2017 and throughout the Smarter Travel Workplaces and Smarter Travel Campus programmes.

All entrants agree to be bound by the decisions of the judges and accept no correspondence, telephone, email or communication of any kind will be entered into in relation to decisions reached. 17. The National Transport Authority reserves the right not to award a category at its own discretion and without recourse to the entrants of said category.
