Police Arrest Armed Suspect Fleeing the Scene of Fatal Shooting in 800 Block of South 16th Street

Newark Public Safety Director Anthony F. Ambrose reports that police arrested an armed suspect fleeing a fatal shooting in the 800-block of South 16th Street tonight.

Shortly after 9 p.m., responding officers observed an armed suspect fleeing the scene of the shooting and apprehended him.

Detectives are determining whether the suspect is responsible for the homicide, which is being investigated by the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Task Force.
