Border Darts League

A.G.M. 2011 - 2012

Held at the Black Swan, Much Dewchurch, Tuesday 20th September.

 Election of Officers  Chairman – Mike Amies  Treasurer - Mike Amies  Secretary - Mike Gummery All officers re-elected unopposed ‘en-bloc’.

 Treasurers Report Mike provided the meeting with a summary of the years’ accounts for review and the following items were noted;

 The trend over the last 4 years has been to reduce the level of the outstanding balance at each year end.  It was agreed that it has now been reduced to a level which leaves a healthy amount in reserve without it being considered too much.  2010 – final balance = £210.83  2011 – final balance = £140.52

 Role Call of teams Continuing from last years successful completion of the league with 8 teams, it was excellent news that we are to have 8 teams again this season, with a few change of venues. It was especially good to see last years new team from the Half Moon returning for another season and also the young team previously from the Boughton, but this year playing from the Neville Arms. With two teams joining from the Rising Sun for this season, plus the Half Moon, this will once again provide more of a balance across the Border area which this league is based upon. The venues are; The Kilpeck Inn, The Tump, The Rising Sun (x2), The Nags Head (x2), The Neville Arms, and The Half Moon (Llanthony). The ‘MJ’s will be one of the teams playing from the Nags Head, and ‘The Badgers’ will play from The Neville Arms. A signing-on sheet was distributed to all team representitives for completion ready to bring to the next meeting along with all monies (for the league only – not competitions at this stage)

Players of all ages and abilities are welcome of course, but younger players are really encouraged to join a team to keep the future of darts alive in this area.

 Review of League Rules

A review was completed, but no changes were proposed. The Secretary noted to the meeting that this year was probably the first year that he had not encountered any ‘suggested’ amendments during the previous season and as such was an indication in itself that the rules must be satisfactory to everyone at the moment.

 Fees for 2009 / 10

It was considered that last years fees would remain in place for this coming season; ie, £25.00 per Team, £2.00 per player and £1.00 per player for each competition entered.

 Contact List review

Initial review completed – Details to be confirmed at next meeting.

 Result Sheet collection

It was agreed to continue with the process whereby all teams will be provided with Result cards pre-addressed to Bub to be sent in as soon as possible following each game. The use of Electronic means of returning the information, eg, detailed text or e-mail, was reviewed, however it was still considered necessary to ultimately have a signed copy of the results and therefore the most efficient way is to continue with the existing arrangements. Bub confirmed that there are a ‘few’ cards available from last year, but new ones will be obtained and distributed in the next few weeks. Gareth Lewis offered to ask Tracy from The Rising Sun for a quote to supply cards as she works for a print company that do that sort of work! Mike Jones confirmed that he could probably provide them as per the last few years, although due to circumstances it would be preferable not to.

Again everyone was also reminded of the need to TEXT in the result only as soon as possible following the game. 07813453123

 Welcome packs will be distributed to all pubs including a full fixture list and Player Registration forms before the first game of the season on 7th October.

 It was noted that 2 teams are still involved with the Summer league in Hay-on-Wye who are playing until 14th October. It was considered too late for our season start to be held up that long to accommodate this and a start date of Friday 7th October was agreed. However, to reduce the effect of this overlap on the other teams, it was agreed the seasons fixtures should be arranged with the first game of the season for the two teams affected to be scheduled for the start date.

 D.O.N.M.

Tuesday 18th October, 8:00pm at Black Swan
