General information about Schools and Boys

5th graders are call “Tweens”---- Not teenagers or Babies Boys want to “fit in” Boys do not want to stand out in crowd Boys want to feel comfortable Humor works “Stupid Jokes” get their attention Boys want structure and social groups These Students do not see a lot of Adult Males in their School Transportation issues can be an issue with many students Make eye contact Avoid coming across as their Buddy, Be the Adult in Charge They know how to “ware down” their parents and get them to come to an event

3 and 4 Graders Tips Video Games are big and Boys talk about this a lot When delivering an Action message, do not allow boys to answer a question Remembering is the Mission, getting Boys to remember More hands on Stuff You will have there attention for about 2 minutes Pictures relate to these Boys These Boys want to “go do something” Peer recruiting is big in this age group Word search games are big; consider having a promotion flyer with a “word search game” “Stupid” is the S “word” Consider expanding the time to join, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 PM Archery is considered Cool with this Age Group Boys this age will forget easily Boys will remember more at the end of the Day

1st Grade Tips Best group to connect with Parents are much more engaged Rock Climbing and Fishing are considered Cool During the Presentation or Boy Talk ask the boys a question, and have them come and tell you the answerer that night. Touching an Object is an excellent way to connect with this age group Talk a littler slower, Hand motions are important, Eye contact, Uniform will connect,
