Self supporting through our own contributions ...?
A topic at each and every business meeting – the endless discussions about money! We lack unity on how to deal with NA-money and especially the question “Where does it come from, where does it go to?“. There is so much we could do to carry the message! But often the budgets are not covered and many services cannot be done – also – because of money.
What can we – what do we want to do?
What does „self support“ mean? What does “carrying the message” mean? How can we further unity and trust when dealing with NA funds? How do we want to deal with NA funds? Is there a contradiction between the principle of self support and making money from conventions and literature sales, if these profits are used to support our services? Do we want to finance our service from donations alone? How many? If we always have less donations than we need to carry out our services – does that mean we do not want or need these or any further services? If we do want and need them: why don’t we donate more? Or: where do the donations get stuck? What other possibilities do we have to – also financially – support our service structure in a spiritual way?

And what happens with my donation? 1 Euro gets on its way in the meeting …… € Meeting Services in the group: € Tea and coffee, literature, rent for meeting room, meeting address cards, phone lists, set up group business meetings, posters for the local institutions, local H&I meetings, local Public Information, free flyers and literature for € newcomers …… and …. participation in the Area Service Conference (ASC) Area Services on area level: area meeting lists, area website, legal association at area level, P.O. box, bank account, literature service, setting up the Area Service Conference, H&I- € committees, holding learning days and workshops, travel costs to H&I- meetings and PI events within the area, telephone hotline, NA area service office, area conventions, outreach activities to towns with no meetings, free € literature to correctional and therapeutic institutions etc… and … participation in the Regional Service Conference (RSC)
Region Services on regional level: liability insurance, annual regional convention, website and bulletin boards, legal association at regional level, organization of the Regional Service € Conference (RSC), hold workshops and learning days, telephone hotline, NA regional service office, Public Information, printing of flyers and posters for PI, literature translations committee, production and sale of speaker tapes, € contact to other regions and zones, support for NA as a whole …. and …. sending a delegate to the Zonal Forum and to the World Service Conference (WSC)
Zonal Forum Services on Zonal level: „Fellowship Development“: sharing experiences and supporting $ especially the newer regions and areas within the Zone, zonal forum website, holding the zonal convention (in Europe: ECCNA und EDM) , € holding workshops within the Zone
NA-Worldwide Services on World level: All of the above ... and many more! World Service Office (WSO) with about 40 employees, 3 Service Offices in Europe, Canada and Iran, printing literature in all NA-languages, $ worldwide sales and distribution of literature, free literature to correctional and therapeutic facilities, free distribution of the NA-Way magazine and other publications to addicts worldwide, development of service material, na.org website and bulletin boards, participation in € international conferences and PI-events, World Wide Workshops, workshops at conventions, service meetings and zonal forums, $ organization of the World Convention and the World Service Conference (WSC), supporting far-away communities such as Siberia, Africa, Nepal, China … and many more.
