FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Jim McHale, Ph.D., of American Standard Brands to Speak at Emerging Markets Forum
PISCATAWAY, N.J. (September 16, 2014) – Global sanitation expert Dr. Jim McHale of American Standard Brands will speak at the 2014 Consumer Goods Emerging Markets Forum in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. on Sept. 18, 2014. McHale will discuss the initial results of the Company’s Flush for Good campaign, which to date has focused on improving access to safe sanitation in Bangladesh and Sub-Saharan Africa.
The Emerging Markets Forum ― created as a not-for-profit initiative to engage high-level government and corporate leaders from around the world in dialogue on the key economic social issues facing emerging market countries ― hosts conferences annually. This specific Marketing Forum will focus exclusively on ideas and innovations of interest to consumer goods executives who are actively involved with their organization’s global expansion projects.
McHale was recently appointed to the new position of global sanitation products business unit leader at American Standard. In this role, McHale will lead the establishment a new business unit within American Standard, as he is tasked with expanding the Company’s reach in supplying affordable sanitation products for customers in developing countries.

Supporting the N.J.-based plumbing manufacturer's corporate social responsibility activities ― specifically the Flush for Good initiative that works toward improving the lives of the 2.5 billion people around the world who live without access to safe sanitation ― will also be an important aspect of this new position. Additionally, McHale will be in charge of building and managing relationships with external private and public organizations, as well as non-governmental organizations (NGOs).
Previously, McHale served as vice president of research, development and engineering for American Standard. In this role, he led a global team of scientists and engineers in the development of innovative bath and kitchen products, four of which were ranked number one in their category by Consumer Reports. His team more recently focused on the development of affordable, aspirational sanitation products for consumers in developing countries, resulting in the creation of the SaTo sanitary toilet pan.
McHale holds bachelor's and doctorate degrees in chemistry from Temple University and has completed a two-year postdoctoral fellowship at Princeton University. He has 15 patents to his credit and has authored 15 scientific papers.
“Jim’s passion for this work, his engineering expertise and business acumen uniquely position him for this role,” said Jay Gould, president and CEO of American Standard. “He has been an incredible ambassador and company spokesperson, and all of us wish him much success in this new role.”
