Loving Relationships Part 1

Loving Relationships Part 1:

1. When you think back on your faith journey--who is someone who has made a significant impact on your relationship with Jesus--and why or what was that impact? (or what did they do)

2. Is there a common theme between each of the stories we just shared?

State: The mission of Youth for Christ involves pursuing lost kids. One of the 5 Essentials is “Loving Relationships”. Here is the definition to that: “We consistently pursue lost kids and engage them in life-long relationships with Jesus.”

Read: Matthew 28:18-20 (Great Commission) 1. What does that mean in context of what we do in Campus Life? 2. When you think of the action “GO” what does that mean for you in context of these students we work with? (Is that just club on ______night) 3. Think outside the box a bit--where else might you “GO” to pursue lost kids? (white board--write down all ideas and then unpack?)

Partner up: --Pray that God would help you to consistently pursue lost kids and engage them in life long relationship with Jesus. Pray that you might be to a student--what someone was to you in your faith journey. Pray that God would help you to be bold in pursuing students in their world.

(Homework for staff or someone you empower to do it--look up schedules for things noted on the whiteboard for next week) Loving Relationships Part 2:

Begin with either sharing a brief story of a lost kid that you have been journeying with. Or line up a volunteer ahead of time who would share a story of a lost kid they have been journeying with.

What about you? Anyone have a cool story they want to share about a lost kid you have journeyed with?

Last week we looked at the Great Commission. Let’s re-journey that a bit. Read Matthew 28:18-20. Last week we said that Loving Relationships by YFC is defined as “We consistently pursue lost kids and engage them in life-long relationships with Jesus.”

In verse 20 you find “Teaching them to observe all that I commanded you”. 1. Discuss how that might practically play out with the students we engage every week? 2. How does that flesh out with the definition of Loving Relationships?

Let’s look at another verse: Read: 1 Thessalonians 2:8

Discuss the connecting points between the great commission and this verse. How do you do life with a student? What are practical ways that can play out?

Partner up: Who are you pursuing? What students has God put in your life?

End with: Pull out the White Board: Last week you mentioned places to connect with students. Here are some opportunities for you in the next week to do just that .
