This study of the world emphasizes the historic, economic, geographic, political, and social structure of various cultural regions of the world from the dawn of civilization to the interdependent world of the twentieth century. Special attention is given to the formation and evolution of societies into complex political and economic systems. Geography/map skills and critical thinking skills are emphasized. West Virginia teachers are responsible for analyzing the benefits of technology for learning and for integrating technology appropriately in the students’ learning environment.
