Javelina Hash By Fred Nuesch, Coordinator of Athletic External Affairs THIS SPRING’S BASEBALL schedule with games against Lone Star Conference opponents may be a bit confusing. The Javelinas, for example, will play four-game series with Texas-Permian Basin in Kingsville, West Texas A&M in Canyon and Cameron in Kingsville but they won’t count in the LSC standings. These games will be regional contests but not conference games. The first LSC series will be March 23 when Tarleton State comes to Kingsville. The Javelinas will meet UTPB, WTAM and Cameron in conference games with the sites being flip-flopped from the earlier matchups. The reason for the strange scheduling is to allow the LSC schools to get in a reasonable number of games against regional opponents. This is important when it comes time to select teams for the NCAA Division II postseason playoffs.
