Vacancies: Cathedral Revd Canon Cedric Blakely (ex Diocese of Derby) to be instituted on 5th December East Kilbride Revd Paul Fletcher was instituted on 23rd October King’s Park Revd Ulrich Gerry (ex Hemel Hempstead) to be appointed on half-stipend for 2 years initially. He will live in his own house. Lenzie Progress continues. Stranraer/Portpatrick Revd Canon David Bayne to be invited to next meeting to discuss his report North Ayrshire Profiles complete Knightswood Dean to meet vestry on 7thNovember. Jordanhill Profile complete. Drumchapel Church of Scotland trying to dissolve ecumenical Partnership.
Property QI’s: St. John’s, Greenock, St. Ninian’s, Pollokshields, Holy Trinity, Kilmarnock; All Saints’, Challoch; Holy Name, Cumbernauld; St. Augustine’s, Dumbarton; St. Columba’s, Largs; Ardrossan, Dalry and Irvine (including Rectory). Cathedral Zinc Roofing over Hall passages and South aisle wall plaster problems to progress. St. Ninian’s, Troon – exploring remodelling entrance with glass doors and landscaping improvements. St. Mary’s Bridge of Weir: Rateable value increase of 110% – appeal lodged by Graham & Sibbald. St Matthew’s Old Rectory: Faith In Throughcare to discuss lease seeking £7K -£12K per annum. BSG have in principal agreed disabled toilet & refit kitchen improvement from £15K available 1r Blake Road, Holy Cross, Cumbernauld: Vandalism reported. Holy Cross, Knightswood: Extensive repairs, to roof, leaks, pipes and boiler checks. 111Earlbank Ave - Scotstoun Survey and cost report for improvements.
Grants St. Oswald’s, Maybole - £1400 agreed in principal for Hearing Loop and audio upgrade. Canon 35 St. John’s, Baillieston Security system. Holy Trinity & St. Barnabas, Paisley- Proposed new position of 3 war memorials. St. Michael’s & All Angels’s, Helensburgh – new lights for nave to complete restoration. Cathedral: West End work agreed with Glasgow City council to removal panelling. St. Bride’s, Hyndland - Mono Consultants Vodaphone /O2 mast installation. Greyfriars, Kirkudbright –. Simple cross etched on stone. St. Bartholomew’s, Gourock – request for pews to be replaced by chairs. St. Oswald’s, Maybole - Hearing Loop and audio upgrade St. Bartholomew’s, Gourock – Stained Glass design. St. Andrew’s, Uddingston – Request to dispose of three pews. St George’s Building Management Committee: Various cost-cutting measures had been agreed in connection with the running of the building, including decommissioning the lift. The earliest the matter can be scheduled for a court hearing is 9th May.
Ministry & Mission: Regional meetings on the diocesan strategic review had been well-attended, and many positive contributions had been received. The next step would be to draw together a report-back for the Staff Group. The appointment of Revd Canon Tom Montgomery to review overseas links was noted As the I&C Network has been dissolved, it would no longer be listed as a network. Secretary to arrange a meeting of the Network Conveners
Finance: The Budget to be ready for Diocesan Council on 13th November. The “Congregational Fund” would be wound up in accordance with the Auditor’s recommendations.
Administration: Secretary to seek the Registrar’s advice on who should sign the “Fit and proper persons” and OSCR Trustee declaration in connection with the diocese The Diocesan Council agenda was agreed, and the draft Diocesan Synod agenda noted. Negotiations with BT on the office telephones to be handed over to the Churches’ Purchasing Scheme.
