Unmuddle the two stories (One for "he" and one for "them')

He built the house himself. They grew the flowers themselves. (He) laid the foundations and constructed the walls, (they) planted the seeds and cultivated the seedlings, (he) put in the plumbing and installed the electricity, (they) moved them to the beds and watered them, (he) inserted the windows and hung the doors, (they) protected them from wind and tied them to sticks, (he) put on the roof and erected the chimney, (they) put round netting and fertiliser. ANSWERS:

1. One day two men went to sea in a small boat. 2. Suddenly the sky darkened and clouds appeared. 3. The wind blew and rain poured down. 4. The boat bobbed on the sea like a cork. 5. They saw a liner in the distance and started to wave frantically. 9. The liner did not spot them for a long time, but it finally did. 10 . While they waited, the two became colder and whiter. 11. At last somebody threw out a life-belt to them which landed close by them. 12. It was not big enough for both of them to hold on to for a long time. 13. When the ship was closer it slowed down to let a rope-ladder. 14. The men's fingers were so cold they did not catch the ladder the first few times. 15. The finally succeeded. 16. One started to climb the ladder while the other stayed in the sea. 17. In the end they both arrived safely on board. 18. The crew gave them Some dry clothes. 19. The cook made special soup. 20. The captain let them have a cabin and they went to sleep to recover.
