Computer Technology Lab Rules
To ensure that precautions are taken to make certain the safety of all students and the welfare of the computers, printers, peripherals, diskettes, and textbooks, the following safety guidelines must be followed:
Enter the computer lab ready to learn and to work with no running or “horseplay” of any kind.
No food or drinks in the lab.
Leave your bags in the designated area of the room.
Find your computer and sign in.
If your computer is malfunctioning please let teacher know immediately by raising your hand. Do not attempt to solve the problem yourself.
Stay in your seat.
Only visit approved Internet sites and only when you have permission to do so.
Do not download anything unless told to do so.
No playing video games in the lab.
Respect the equipment. Don't remove or disconnect any labels, parts or cables.
Do not touch the monitors.
All four feet of your chair should be on the floor at all times
Use only your assigned computer.
Do not change any system settings without permission. Do not install any software, modify, or delete any system files. Use your flash drive or Google Docs to save your work. Do not save files on the computer, they will be deleted without warning.
Read the screen BEFORE asking questions.
If you need help raise your hand. Do not yell out as this disrupts others.
Log-off - leave the station ready for the next person to use.
Do not shutdown or place computers in sleep mode.
Remember to take your printouts with you.
Keep the room clean.
Rules for Printing
1. Ask teachers permission before printing.
2. Each paper must have student name, period number, station number and date.
3. Always spell check before printing.
4. Print only if you have permission. Press pint button only once.
5. If you are experiencing problem printing let teacher know immediately by raising your hand.
Violations of the laboratory rules or the Hamilton County Department of Education computer usage agreement will result in loss of computer privileges and/or other disciplinary action.
