WHAT: Energy efficiency is one of our most powerful tools to combat climate change while at the same time it reduces costs and dependency on energy providers. Although the necessary technology already exists and the cost-effectiveness is well known to companies and governments the energy efficiency revolution has not happened on a larger scale. What does it take to make energy efficiency a topic that nobody can ignore? How to motivate action? Who must show leadership and who has to be involved? Which rules and regulations do we need? These and other questions will be discussed in a highly interactive process amongst a group of approximately 35 environmental and sustainability leaders. It is an invitation-only event and no media will attend. The objectives of this Roundtable include: Finding practical ways to stimulate energy efficiency investments in existing and new buildings, production processes, product design, and transportation. Planning energy-efficient infrastructures and incentivizing people to participate in energy efficient lifestyles. Enabling sustainability leaders from global corporations to build additional competencies and perspectives in comparing their energy efficiency strategies with other global leaders. Comparing and activating partnerships between companies, scientific institutions, NGO’s and other organizations to identify opportunities for energy efficiency solutions.
