3. Be Free! Don’t Let The Religious And Righteous Get You Down! ...... Be Jesus To Those Who Are Accused, Who Sin And Who Are ...... Condemned!

3 The teachers of the law and the Pharisees brought in a woman caught in adultery. They made her stand before the group 4 and said to Jesus, “Teacher, this woman was caught in the act of adultery. 5 In the Law Moses commanded us to stone such women. Now what do you say?” 6 They were using this question as a trap, in order to have a basis for accusing him.

A. “Teachers of the law and the Pharisees....” still around!

B. Don’t be controlled by them!

C. “You Have To Do It This Way!!!”

D. Do It the way Jesus would!

E. How many people are “accused, beaten down, sin, condemned??

F. All around us!!!

G. Be Jesus, Bring Freedom, Bring Hope!

4. Be Free! Play The Game In Your Own Way, Proclaim Holy Spirit ...... Truth!

But Jesus bent down and started to write on the ground with his finger. 7 When they kept on questioning him, he straightened up and said to them, “Let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her.” 8 Again he stooped down and wrote on the ground

A. Jesus didn’t answer them right away, didn’t play their game!

B. The famous game of RISK ... nations being conquered!

C. Master Players... Doug Mashek, the Sauer Brothers, Jim Drake ...... invited Rhonda to play.

E. Jesus has given us the Holy Spirit to play this game of life in his ...... way! How did Jesus respond??????

F. When they kept on questioning him, he straightened up and said to them, “Let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her.” 8 Again he stooped down and wrote on the ground

5. Be Free! Let The Accusers Walk Away, Be Alone With Jesus, Go .....And Leave Your Life Of Sin!

9 At this, those who heard began to go away one at a time, the older ones first, until only Jesus was left, with the woman still standing there.

A. What did Jesus write in the dirt??? Address, dates, women’s names?

B. “Jesus was left, with the woman still standing there.”

C. He was bent over, she could have slipped away in her humiliation ...... and missed an opportunity to be healed by Jesus!

10 Jesus straightened up and asked her, “Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?”

A. She could have looked in the mirror and said, “They’re all gone but ...... I’m still here and I could condemn myself”

B. A lesson to be learned BE FREE AND DON’T CONDEMN ...... YOURSELF!

11 “No one, sir,” she said. (With Great respect shown to Jesus)

“Then neither do I condemn you,” Jesus declared. “Go now and leave your life of sin.”

A. JESUS ISNT IN THE CONDEMNING BUSINESS HE’S IN THE ...... BUSINESS OF FREEING PEOPLE!

B. WHAT WAS HIS DECLARATION OF FREEDOM? ...... ”GO NOW AND LEAVE YOUR LIFE OF SIN!” Page 4

6. Be Free! Believe, Trust In, Rely On Jesus Not The Pharisees!

12 When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”

13 The Pharisees challenged him, “Here you are, appearing as your own witness; your testimony is not valid.”

A. Be Free! Believe the words of Jesus that he is the light of the world

B. Be Free! Believe whatever he says!

C. The Pharisees challenged him.... the challenge continues to this day!

1. Who is Jesus??? Can we believe what he said???????

2. People will challenge us and what we believe about Jesus!

3. Be Free In living your life! You don’t have to defend Jesus all ...... by yourself, The Holy Spirit will help! Pray!

7. Be Free! Hang Out With The One Who Is Free And Has The ...... Answers!

14 Jesus answered, “Even if I testify on my own behalf, my testimony is valid, for I know where I came from and where I am going. But you have no idea where I come from or where I am going. 15 You judge by human standards; I pass judgment on no one. 16 But if I do judge, my decisions are true, because I am not alone. I stand with the Father, who sent me. 17 In your own Law it is written that the testimony of two witnesses is true. 18 I am one who testifies for myself; my other witness is the Father, who sent me.”

1. He knows where he came from and where he is going!

2. People judge on human standards...”I pass judgment on no one.”

3. He stands with the Father! And the Father stands with Jesus! Page 5

4. Be Free... Let Jesus and the Father stand with you as you share in ...... their work!

8. Be Free! Know The Son And His Dad, Trust Their Timing!

19 Then they asked him, “Where is your father?”

“You do not know me or my Father,” Jesus replied. “If you knew me, you would know my Father also.”

1. I want to know Jesus, God the Father, the Holy Spirit and everything ...... about them! The Bible, the Fruit of the Spirit, The gifts of the Holy ...... Spirit! What is going to happen in the future and what has happened!

20 He spoke these words while teaching in the temple courts near the place where the offerings were put. Yet no one seized him, because his hour had not yet come.

1. Be Free ...... teach wherever you are!

2. Be Free.to know that God’s timing is perfect...”no one seized him, his hour had not yet come!”

9. Be Free! Don’t Be Confused, Know The Truth!

21 Once more Jesus said to them, “I am going away, and you will look for me, and you will die in your sin. Where I go, you cannot come.”

22 This made the Jews ask, “Will he kill himself? Is that why he says, ‘Where I go, you cannot come’?”

23 But he continued, “You are from below; I am from above. You are of this world; I am not of this world. 24 I told you that you would die in your sins; if you do not believe that I am he, you will indeed die in your sins.”

Be Free Know the Truth..... You are from Below and I from above! ...... You are of this world and I am not! ...... You will die in your sins if you do not believe that He is God! Page 6

10. Be Free! Don’t Judge, Tell The World What He Has Told You!

25 “Who are you?” they asked.

“Just what I have been telling you from the beginning,” Jesus replied. 26 “I have much to say in judgment of you. But he who sent me is trustworthy, and what I have heard from him I tell the world.”

27 They did not understand that he was telling them about his Father. 28 So Jesus said, “When you have lifted up[a] the Son of Man, then you will know that I am he and that I do nothing on my own but speak just what the Father has taught me. 29 The one who sent me is with me; he has not left me alone, for I always do what pleases him.” 30 Even as he spoke, many believed in him.

1. “Who are you?” They asked.

2. The answer as simple as this.... He is the one to believe in!

3. vs. 30 “Even as he spoke, many believed in him.”

11. Be Free Indeed! Hold To His Teaching! Be A Disciple, A Son, A ...... Daughter!

31 To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. 32 Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

33 They answered him, “We are Abraham’s descendants and have never been slaves of anyone. How can you say that we shall be set free?”

Here is the truth:

34 Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, everyone who sins is a slave to sin. More truth.... 35 Now a slave has no permanent place in the family, but a son belongs to it forever. More truth....36 So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.
