Rockbridge INFORMATION:

Young Life Rockbridge Alum Springs 170 Spring House Road Goshen, VA 24439 Phone: (540) 997-9276 Fax: (540) 997-0042 http://Rockbridge.younglife.org

TRANSPORTATION: We will travel by charter bus to Rockbridge

Rockbridge has a no cell phone policy for security and other reasons (there typically isn’t reception anyway). However, there are several pay phones available AND the camp will give messages to its guests in a timely manner. PLEASE BRING A CALLING CARD TO USE THESE PHONES!

This itinerary, the Checklist (what to bring), and the Health Form (you can’t get on the bus without a signed health form) are all available at Washington County Young Life’s website (there is a link to everything you need for camp on the home page): WashingtonCountyPA.younglife.org Dustin Hartman: 724-678-5957 or [email protected] Rockbridge CHECKLIST BEFORE YOU LEAVE: Turn in your health form and the rest of your money (If you do not have a health form go to WashingtonCountyPA.younglife.org and download one today. We cannot leave unless everyone turns in signed forms!)

WHAT YOU WILL NEED:  Beach towel(s)  Bathing suit(s)  1 pair of Jeans  1 pair of closed-toed shoes (this means shoes that are NOT sandals – used on ropes, bikes, etc.)  1 very grubby outfit (that you can get so muddy it could be thrown away, including closed toed shoes)  1 nice outfit (guys: khaki shorts or pants and a decent shirt; girls: sun dress, casual skirt, etc. Nothing too fancy!)  Sun-block  Toiletries (deodorant…PLEASE; toothbrush; shampoo; toothpaste; waxed floss; etc.)  Shorts, a pair of pants, t-shirts, a sweatshirt, shoes, sandals, and whatever else you normally wear! Rockbridge can be cool at night, but it will likely be pretty warm. Bring a variety of clothes -- you will want stuff to sweat in and swim in, but also stuff to wear to dinner and club.  Some money. We will stop for two meals on the way up and back, and food on the way up and back is not included in the price. (Bring at least $20 for road food unless you pack something). During the week at Rockbridge, three meals a day (and a few snacks) will be provided; however, there are good snack bars you may want to visit and a great Rockbridge store with Young Life stuff, souvenirs, miscellaneous toiletries, etc. (store accepts credit cards). A good amount to take would probably be around $40-75 total. If this is a problem for you, please let us know.  Calling Card. The camp has a no cell phone policy for security and other reasons (there is typically no reception anyway). There are several pay phones that take calling cards and the office gladly gives messages to campers.

WHAT YOU MIGHT NEED:  Cards or games  iPod/MP3 (you will be asked to give these up when we arrive to ensure they do not get stolen, but you can certainly use them on the bus ride)  Cell phone You will be asked to give these up upon arrival because of the camp’s no cell phone policy; however, cells can be convenient for calling parents on the way home, so it is nice to have a few for the ride  Your favorite pillow for the ride  Sunglasses  Bath towel (one is provided and it will be washed once, but if you need more…)  Alarm clock (if you like to get up early for whatever reason)  Soccer ball, football, frisbee, tennis racket, ping-pong paddle, skateboard (There are courts, fields, ramps, a Frisbee golf course, and more. Stuff to use these facilities is available, however, if you have a special attachment to any of your own personal sporting equipment, feel free to bring it!

WHAT YOU WILL NOT NEED (so don’t bring!):  Bedding (this is provided; of course you can bring your favorite blanket or pillow if you want!)  Laptops, DVD players (We recommend leaving things this valuable at home – you won’t need them.)  Drugs or alcohol
