Housing Problem in Hong Kong

1. Develop the Frontier Closed Area (FCA) in NT north

Hong Kong is a crowded place. Urban districts have been developed for a long period. It is no longer useful to develop new places in Kowloon and on HK Island unless re-develop them. But in N.T., especially in N.T. North, there are a lot of under-developed flat plains. These are mainly located inside the Frontier Closed Area (FCA). Develop the Closed Area in NT north

FCA in HK:

Hong Kong F. Closed Area was established in 1951, which is a 28-km² area in Hong Kong along the border with Shenzhen Municipality, China. It was gazetted and established in June 1951 according to the Public Security Ordiance, Hong Kong Law. It was expanded to its current limit in 1962. FCA was set up because of the frequent illigal immiration activities in N.T. North by mainland Chinese people. Road sign of the FCA in Lo Wu

To develop the FCA:

By 2005, HKSAR CE Mr Donald Tsang distributed his Policy Adress and announced that HKSAR Gov. will propse to reduce the size of FCA and develop those new area. The proposed area will be reduced to 8 km² which remain covering all bounday control stations and ports.

My suggestions to development of FCA:

The N.T. North areas are mainly flat plain which are very suitable for new developments.

Recreation Village:

I suggest that the new areas should build a large recreation village. near Mai Po to develop ecotourism in Hong Kong.

Resential and Commerical Besides, large residental and commerical region near Lok Ma Chau. First of all, it is near the Lok Ma Chau Control Station and Port, which is a door open to mainland China. This can attract Shenzhen residnets to have shopping or consuming. Moreover, the places along the KCR LMC Spur Rail can be constructed as medium density residential area. The KCR Corp has already planned two stations will be built between LMC Stn and Sheung Shui Station. Therefore, it is convenient for residents to travel along N.T. North and interchange East Rail at Sheung Shui Stn to Tsim Sha Tsui E.

Logistics centers:

Apart from that, a logistics centers can be built near Lok Ma Chau too. Since it is near the Lok Ma Chau Control Station and Port, many export or inport good vehicles will pass through. Also, Lok Ma Chau is linked to the San Tin Highway, which can be interchage to Fang Ling Highway to Sha Tin and Kowloon E or interchange to Yuen Long or Tsing Long Highway in order to go to Tuen Mun, Tsuen Wan, Kln W and HKI.
