3. ____ Is the environment conducive to learning – arrangement of chairs, visuals, and music?
4. ____ Do the people relate well together, is the fellowship strong?
5. ____ Does the teacher do something to help create learning readiness?
6. ____ Are the learners involved in discussion rather than the teacher doing most of the talking?
7. ____ Does the teacher see his/her role as a leader of discovery rather than dispenser of facts?
8. ____ Does the teacher seem more oriented toward teaching people the Bible rather than just teaching the Bible?
9. ____ Are items from the resource kit and other visuals in use?
10.____ Is there evidence of prior preparation?
11.____ Are a variety of teaching methods used?
12.____ Is good use made of time?
13. ____ Is there time at the end of the lesson for application?

2. ____ Do the workers arrive before the first pupil?
3. ____ Is the room set up and ready before the first pupil arrives?
4. ____ Are the youth bringing and using their Bibles?
5. ____ Are the youth investigating Bible content?
6. ____ Are they practicing “Total Period Teaching” (large group time and small group time both relate to same teaching aim)?
7. ____ Do the walls contain items from the resource kit for the unit (and only this unit)?
8. ____ Are the pupils involved in discussion and work rather than the teachers doing all the talking, etc.?
9. ____ Are pupil involvement methods being used (drama, art, creative writing, etc.)?
10.____ Do the teachers have all the resources they need?
11.____ Is there someone other than youth keeping records?
12.____ Do the leaders know the names of the pupils?
13.____ Does the department director evidence understanding of unit teaching?
14.____ Do teachers have an appropriate size group (approximately 6 to 10)?

5. ____ Is the department furniture on the child’s level?
6. ____ Are the bulletin boards, visuals, etc. on the theme of the unit being taught?
7. ____ Do the workers call the children by name?
8. ____ Is the department arranged for best use of space (uncrowded, activities, etc.)?
9. ____ Are books, Bibles, art materials, and other supplies needed for the unit in progress available in the room so that pupils have access to them?
10.____ Are children allowed to think, plan, make decisions and take responsibility rather than teachers dominating?
11.____ Are the children allowed to choose from a variety of activities?
12.____ Is the Bible in evidence in the department during projects and activities?
13.____ Are children helped to feel a sense of accomplishment?
14.____ Does the department reflect a good ratio of pupils to teachers?
15.____ Do the children help clean up and return materials and supplies?
16.____ Do the teachers seem to enjoy teaching?
17.____ Do the children seem to enjoy the projects and activities?
18.____ During large group time, do teachers act as facilitators rather than spectators?

5. ____ Is the equipment on the level of the child?
6. ____ Is the Bible in evidence in the room?
7. ____ Are there men teaching in the department?
8. ____ Do you hear music in the department (teachers singing, record player, cassette, CD, etc.)?
9. ____ Is the room arranged by activities rather than chairs around tables?
10.____ Are the children allowed to choose activities?
11.____ Do the activities look exciting (real flowers, gold fish, etc.)?
12.____ Do the children do the work?
13.____ Do activities allow the children to be creative and express themselves?
14.____ Do the children enjoy the activities?
