Main Purpose of the Position: The Vice Principal shall report to the Principal and serve to assist the Principal directly overseeing the administration of VCS Junior High. The VCS Superintendent, with the approval of the VCS School Board, appoints the Vice Principal.

Essential Functions: I. Administrative Relationships and Requirements 1. Assist the Principal in setting a positive spiritual tone of leadership in the JH by performing duties that support the Principal and the mission of the school. 2. Serve as PowerSchool (Student Information System) Administrator. 3. Create the Master Schedule and schedule student classes. 4. Manage Standardized Test Administration. 5. Mine, compile, and disaggregate data to create requested reports such as:  Disaggregation of scores for the Accreditation Report  Individual course scores for Quest Awards  Academic/Data Dashboard  Class Placement  GPA Ranking 6. Annually Revise Handbooks. 7. Facilitate school orientation events such as Fifth Grade Visitation and Open Houses 8. Conduct iPad training for parents and set up for students. 9. Attend Junior High co-curricular events. 10. Create content for the Social Media attributed to the JH such as the Principal’s Blog, Twitter Feed, and Parents of VCJHS Facebook page. 11. Coordinate the Junior High’s participation in outreach programs such as Junior University/Lighthouse Initiative (JULI), Christian Ministry Training (CMT) and the Where Everybody Belongs (WEB) programs.

II. Personnel Administration 1. Seek to recruit and screen new faculty and staff in cooperation with the Principal and department heads. 2. Maintain open and positive communication with department heads, faculty, and other staff members. 3. Assist the Principal in designing professional development opportunities for teachers. 4. Coordinate and periodically facilitate morning faculty meetings. 5. Observe and Evaluate Teachers 6. Serve as Head of New Teacher Mentor Program.

III. Professional, Parent and Community Relations 1. Work to ensure that faculty and staff seek to serve the Lord by positively serving parents and students. 2. Maintain timely reciprocal communication with parents.

2 3. Work to ensure that parents are being properly informed about student progress through regular communications from teachers to parents. 4. Conduct New Student Interviews. 5. Oversee the Love and Logic/Challenge Success programs.

IV. Program and Curriculum 1. Under the direction of the Principal, ensure the most appropriate curriculum is delivered to students through well-trained and educated teachers. 2. Meet regularly with Department Heads to review department curriculum and facilitate the completion of assignments from the Director of Curriculum. 3. Assist the Principal in updating and publishing the course description catalog. 4. Coordinate with the Curriculum Director: 4.a. Curriculum documentation 4.b.Curriculum changes 4.c. Teacher documentation schedule 5. Supervise the online learning environment (Moodle – Learning Management System), making sure that the following items are accurate, up-to-date, on time, and following curriculum protocol: 5.a. Staff Resources 5.b.Teacher Websites and Calendars 5.c. Scope and Sequence 5.d.Staff Calendar 6. Oversee digital citizenship training in the classroom.

V. Students 1. Assist the Principal in maintaining standards of discipline, health, and welfare for all students. 2. Help assure that all faculty and staff attract qualified students. 3. As often as possible, pray with students and seek to lead them to a deepening relationship with Jesus.

Non-Essential Functions:

All jobs duties are essential.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Recruits, selects, mentors, coaches, and develops staff. Responsible for providing input for all hiring and firing decisions. Responsible for coaching and counseling, rewards, and recognition. Knowledge and Skills:  M.S. /M.A. Degree.  Maintain an ACSI or California State credential and hold a Bachelor’s degree.  Minimum of two years successful experience as a Junior High School Vice Principal or five years teaching experience at the Junior High School level.  Provide leadership, guidance, and direction to all teachers, students, and staff within the school.  Contribute to the overall management of the Junior High School by performing duties that support the Principal and the mission of the School.  Under the direction of the Principal, ensure the most appropriate behavior program is delivered to the students through well-trained and educated teachers.  CPR/First aid certified.

Fiscal Responsibilities: (Budget responsibilities, approval privileges, reporting, and auditing) Supports the Principal in the responsibility of budgeting, planning, and reporting of all activities within the Junior High School.

Extent of Public Contact: (Type and frequency) Daily contact with teachers, staff, coaches, students, parents, guests, and school administrators.

Physical Demands: (lifting, walking, equipment operations) Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. No heavy lifting.

Working Conditions and Environment: (travel, usual work hours, environmental conditions) Work is performed in an office environment. Position may travel on occasion.
