Office 365 vs Office 2013

Separate tools

Office 365 is cloud based while Office 2013 is desktop installed and can only be used on installed machines.

Don’t have to have one to use the other

They are different.

Logging into Office 365 is the same as logging into Outlook on the web. You will see a tab that has Office 365 on the title menu.

Once you click on Office 365 the other tabs show up. One drive is your cloud storage space (similar to my documents folder)

You can upload a single document / multiple files / create a new document / create a new folder / share document and folders / open documents / edit document on line / edit documents in Office 2013

Sharing a document with everyone means that everyone in LCPS can see that document - including the students.

Should be used for small groups (less than 10). For larger groups use a Share point site.

Can be great for folks with multiple flash drives or large files in the H or I drive.

To Share a Document

 Click share

 Type in name of person (linked to LCPS active directory)

 Give rights  Can invite certain people or can get a link that can be emailed. Folks can either view a document or edit the document

 Sending out a link allows others to resend the link to other people

 All changes are save automatically

 Can highlight a portion and add comments and this can be a response

 There is a revision history to see who edited what and what they edited

 Right click on the 3 dots to get more information

Teachers can download Office 365 onto 5 devices. You can always remove a download if you get a new device. Once you leave LCPS your license are not valid.
