PART 3 - EXECUTION

3.1 INSPECTION AND PREPARATION

A. General:

1. Verify that preceding work has been satisfactorily completed. 2. Verify that forms, trash and debris have been removed. 3. Do not proceed until conditions are satisfactory.

B. Trench Excavation

1. Excavate trenches for subsoil drainage pipe to lines, grades, elevations and widths detailed. 2. Do not over-excavate.

3. Exercise care not to disturb soil at bottom of trenches.

C. Subsoil Drainage Pipe Installation for Tree Openings:

1. Place filter fabric in bottom of trench and extend up the sides equal to the depth of the aggregate and width of the trench.

2. Place bottom layer of granular fill over filter fabric to elevation of pipe bottom.

3. Place pipe sections on granular fill and complete joints and fittings in accordance with manufacturer's directions.

4. Insure that pipe is installed at correct elevations.

5. Leave piping installation complete and ready for granular fill backfill.

6. Refer to drawings to determine where non-perforated and perforated pipe is required.

7. After subsoil drainage pipe installation id complete, place granular fill around sides of pipe and tamp solid without disturbing pipe positions.

8. Place additional granular fill over top of drainage pipe to levels detailed.

9. Cover top of granular fill with filter fabric. Lap joints in accordance with manufacturer's directions to provide continuous wrapped coverage of fabric around granular fill.

D. Subsoil Drainage Pipe Installation (Standard Condition)

1. Bedding for pipe shall provide a firm foundation of uniform density throughout the entire length of pipe. The exterior of the pipe for not less than 1/4 of its circumference shall be embedded in an earth foundation of uniform density accurately shaped to fit the outside of the pipe material used for bedding from on site excavation. When rock is encountered grade and install tamped earth from the excavation to achieve desired grade.

2. No pipe shall be laid in a wet trench. Maintain all trenches free of water.

3. No pipe shall be laid until it has been inspected and approved. The pipe shall be laid upgrade beginning at the lower end of the line.

4. Use manufacturer's standard couplers to make all connections.

5. After the pipe has been installed, material from the on-site excavation at a moisture content to obtain required density, shall be placed equally along both sides of the pipe in layers not exceeding six (6) inches loose depth. Compact each layer thoroughly by hand or pneumatic tampers to finish grade.

3.2 CLEAN UP

Remove all debris, spoil and materials from site after completion.
