Minutes of last meeting Minutes of March meeting (amended) were approved. Proposed by Jeff and seconded by Alan. Minutes of April meeting were approved. Proposed by Jeff and seconded by Bruce. Captain’s Report Bruce felt that East Sussex had been a great success even if he personally did not play too well. The overall winner was Adrian Meredith’s guest Steve with 37 points but as he was ineligible John de Rebello was awarded the trophy. He thanked Alan and his helpers for running the pitch at Waterside to encourage new members. There were five interested golfers including Dan Barrett a former member and hopefully we will be able to get some to join up. The timing was felt to be good, just after the Masters and the exercise may be worth repeating next year. Secretary’s Report Roger reported that Merrist Wood had contacted him and would be sending details of their society packages. There were also some offers from Leatherhead GC which he circulated. A letter has been produced for ASCA team members to request special leave. Treasurer’s Report Richard reported that the BFG had been made at £3600 ( a reduction of £200).It was agreed that our affiliation to Laleham and Thorney Park should be continued on the same terms as 2012. East Sussex had proved expensive for the section with a subsidy of £660 after using the ASCA profit. This is clearly unsustainable on a regular basis and was made worse by the mysterious halfway house “tab” which cost £78. Day Meeting Secretary’s Report In Malcolm’s absence there was no report. Match Secretary’s Report For the first time that anyone can remember BAGS won the Billy White trophy, which had escaped the robbery, by beating Laleham 4 - 2. Unfortunately there was no Port available but red wine proved acceptable. Next match is SAS who will only bring 12 players but will probably have 10 for practice on Wednesday (probably at Royal Ascot) – standby flights permitting. Thursday will be at Sand Martins (£35) and Friday at Leatherhead (£40 with food) followed by drinks at Wraysbury Lake. Richmond police may be at the Drift subject to negotiation. Delta have suggested 7th to 11th October for visit to Atlanta. Due to numbers and wanting to be competitive Dave may have to select for the FlyBE match. Tournament Secretary’s Report Mike now has all the cards for Thorney Park. Handicap Secretary’s Report Handicaps all updated from the Roll up and seven additional medal cards will now be added. If we organise another two day meeting next year a decision will have to be taken on what changes should be made to handicaps overnight since the “manual” adjustments applied at East Sussex produced different results from the software. RW Publicity Secretary’s Report Still no sign ups after the pitch at Waterside but more genuine interest. Alan will try to get a mention on the BA intranet in the hope of encouraging AA and Iberia/IAG staff based there to join. Alan suggested that we should get more AS display material and will look into “versatile” options so that any investment will be used fully. Roll up Organiser’s Report Farnham Park had 20 members and was won by Alfie Clark on 40 points from Clive Jones and Ian Forde on 38. Thorney Park had 21 members plus one guest and was won by Bill Bissett on 39 points from John Burns on 38. Next event is at Laleham on 22nd May. Membership Secretary’s Report We now have 57 members – lost 5 and gained 6 – but some might still come back. BA Clubs and Betty (Laleham and Thorney) have been advised. KO Report Draw was made at East Sussex and there are 36 entries. Matters Arising a) The final proposal is that the Underarmour Royal Blue shirts will be used and this was agreed. Orders now being taken for the ASCA team. When the first batch are done and the overall cost (shirt with discount and embroidery) is clear, Roger will email to invite orders from members with RW a definite price, which may include a small contribution to section funds. Bruce thanked Alan, Jeff and Stan for their hard work on this project. b) It was agreed that Jeff would get prices for towels embroidered with JB date(s) as momento of winning monthly medal competitions. c) It was agreed that the budget for prizes should be increased by reducing the subsidy for the rest of this year’s Day Meetings. RC/MC d) It was agreed that for 2013 a grant of £40 should be made to each member of the ASCA team. RC Business Matters a) It was agreed that unless a Vice Captain can be appointed by the next meeting a former Captain should be asked to take on the role. AOB
Stan mentioned that we are running short of balls for the ball sweep. It was agreed SK that he should re-order AD333s with logo at the best price possible.
Meeting ended at 1943
The next meeting will be at 18.00 on 4th June at the Concorde Club.
