Florida Hospital’s Childbirth Education classes are consumer-oriented and focus on informing and preparing parents for the childbirth experience. Our instructors are certified childbirth educators with experience in labor support. A variety of topics are covered, including comfort measures such as breathing patterns, relaxation and massage, medications and epidural, and medical options such as induction and cesarean birth. Infant care and postpartum care are also included.

Each class meets one night per week for 4 weeks. Course fee is $40.00. It is recommended that all support persons planning to attend the birth accompany mom to class. Each class includes lecture and discussion, video, and practice in breathing techniques, relaxation, and comfort measures. Written materials are provided each week.

Participants may register at the registration desk at Florida Hospital Heartland or call 863-402-3258. Students should bring two pillows and a beach towel or blanket to class. For more information call Jill Jernigan, RN, BSN, CCE, Coordinator of Childbirth Education, at 402-3258.
