Book Description:
A mother has put her baby down to sleep and all the animals in the woods come by the house making noise that could wake the baby.

Introduction: Questions to ask before reading:
What do you think of when you the word hush! What kind of noises do various animals make? (frog, elephant, lizard, mosquito, etc.)
Questions during reading:
Do you think that you could sleep with different types of animals making all these noises? Why do you think the mother wants it to be so quiet?
Follow-up activities
Have the students imagine trying to sleep with all the animals making noises. Then, have them write a story telling about the problem trying to sleep with various types of noises. Have students explain different ways you can block out noises when concentrating on something (e.g. sleeping, studying).
