STEM STEM Club had its first meeting on Thursday the 17th where we elected John as our Vice President. ran from 12:30 – 2:00. We had a total of 17 students attend the

8 meeting, 15 stayed past that time until we all actually had to leave for classes. During the meeting we learned about electricity as we played with a classroom ‘Tesla’ coil and various objects including a light bulb, a ring stand, paper clips, aluminum foil and car keys. We were able to safely interact with the electricity produced by using a simple metal object, such as car keys, near the conductive object and produce a spark that jumped between them. The club members had a lot of fun experimenting and finding new ways to interact with the electricity. We also had a bit of fun as we were able to observe Faraday’s law in action as a metal ring resting on the table conducted without being attached to a power source. We are looking forward to making a trip to the Rochester Museum and Science Center to see their Electric Theater where they play music using two large tesla coils on stage, though we have not yet decided on a date. We will continue to have weekly meetings and it looks like we will have a successful semester.

People liked that idea so were going to look more into it. • During the Semester we have Vendors that come to Merchant cove in GCC. • They help raise money for our club so we would like to thank them by checking on them throughout the day when they are there and seeing if they need any breaks. We have already had one Vendor this year which helped raise the club some money. • We have two more vendors scheduled that need to be checked on. The dates are Thursday October 15th, 2015 and Friday October 16th, 2015. • Alyssa Johnston, treasure gave the treasury report. The club has $800.00 to use for conference. Kelsee Putnam and Lyndsey Allen said they were interested in attending to them again this year, and it was recommended that a few freshman should go and attend the meetings as well. • The last thing that was discussed was possible charities to donate funds too. Alyssa Johnston brought up donating to the Military K-9 units. She was going to look into it and find out more. Dr. Caccamise brought up the Ferret farm that comes out and helps with lab and we all agreed to help with some funding for them. • T-shirts for the club were also brought up. People were going to look into some local companies to find out rates for the next meeting. Also anyone can bring in a T-shirt design at the next meeting and we will vote on them. • Lastly we discussed possibly having the Zoo Mobile associated with the Seneca Park Zoo come sometime to help introduce animals into our community.
