Art Club  Art Club hosted a pumpkin carving event in October.  Art Club members attended an Aluminum Casting Workshop at artist Jeff Swift's Studio in November.  Students are participating in a Printmaking Workshop in December.  Art Club donated art supplies for children in need for Christmas gifts.

ASL Club – not represented

Business Forum  Heard from guest speakers Mr. Ryan Hasenaurer, Director of Marketing at OTB and Mr. Jim Morelli, Governmental Sales person from Milton Cat in Batavia.  Resume writing contest will be April 14, 2016.  Sponsored both CASA & Salvation Army Christmas gift donations  Ducky Derby contest for United Way will be Thursday, March 10, 2016.

CAB  This week is stress free week! o Today at 3pm there will be stress free bingo in S-103 sponsored by the center. Tonight at 7pm in the Union we will have a comedian, Ashley Gavin. o Wednesday during the day we will have therapy dogs in @-103 during the day. Come play with them and de-stress. We will be having other activities throughout the afternoons to take your mind off of classes. Every night in S- 103, PTK is sponsoring a study lounge.  We are looking to moving our meetings to Monday nights next semester.

CEO CEO Club is looking forward to hosting more speakers in the spring semester. Our next speaker is Barb Shine, an entrepreneur and former GCC faculty member, who will be here on Thursday, February 11th. For more information on CEO Club, please contact a current member or Amy Conley.

CSU Club Previous Events:  November 13th-15th, BASICcon-  Ten CSU Club members attended the BASIC conference held at the Rochester Holiday Inn. This was our 4th year attending the conference along with over 700 WNY young adults who enjoyed bands, speakers, tours of downtown Rochester & some of the best food it has to offer!  November 19th & December 3rd, Care-A-Van Ministries at the College Village-  CSU Club members helped Care-A-Van as they went door to door at the dorms to hand out free food and connect with the students to let them know our community cares about them.  November 22nd, Thank you to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church-  St. Pauls has faithfully came along side of CSU Club for the last 8 years, providing free lunches several times a semester and helping at every Club Fair event with free give-a-ways, etc. They truly care about the students at GCC and strive to find ways to bless them! As a thank you to the congregation, CSU club members took turns expressing their gratitude to the congregation during the morning service.  December 4th, CSU Club’s “1st Friday Nights” Event in the Student Union-  CSU had over 30 attend this event. We enjoyed coffee, pizza, soda, and games. We built gingerbread houses and decorated Christmas cookies. Kristi Knutson won first prize for the ugliest Christmas sweater and Hanna Tischer won first prize at the “Carlton” dance competition (from the show, Fresh Prince of Bel-Air).

Upcoming Events:  December 10th, 12:30pm – CSU Club’s final meeting for the Fall semester will be a Christmas luncheon with cookie decorating and more.

DECA  50 more neck scarves should arrive by Dec. 23  Applied for an initiative grant to secure to have more plaid fabric woven to create new products to sell  Arranged for Prof. Ehrhart to serve as guest speaker in March for our Fashion Speaks series, her exhibit will appear in the Library and there will be a “high tea” and talk open to the public.  Attempting to bring a headliner to campus to help us promote the 35th annual fashion show on Saturday, April 30, 2016.  Sponsored both CASA & Salvation Army Christmas gift donations

Education Club  Activity Day: The preschool children from the Day Care Center were our guests on Tuesday, November 24th. We learned about children through play!  BOGO: The Education Club is in the planning stages of a “Buy One Give One Hope” Food Drive for area families. Stay tuned for more details. The Digital Arts students will be creating our logo.  Breakfast with Santa at GCC: We participated in Breakfast with Santa at GCC on December 5th! We had a blast and had our picture taken with Santa!  Breakfast with Santa at Jackson: We have been invited to participate in this event again. We will be providing craft activities for young children at Jackson School on Saturday, December 12th.  CASA Holiday Gift Program: We will be providing holiday gifts for the CASA children. We would like clubs to sponsor a child. 45 children have been sponsored by individuals, clubs, programs and offices around the college.  Fall Workshops: Several workshops are planned for this fall. o Authentic Assessment – 9/19/15 o Classroom Management – 10/16/15. o Learning Styles – 3 workshops offered (November – including College Village) o Don’t Dis My Ability – 12/3/15

Film Club We have been testing the new 4k camera and its many setting to make sure that we can figure out the most efficient way to get footage from the camera to the computer. We are also exploring what it is like to work with 4k footage on a HD monitor. We discovered that the current software on the mac is not compatible with 4k as well.

Here Comes Treble  HCT just finished their semester with thief concert "A Night of Music" performing for the first time in GCC's theater. We had a wonderful turnout and we cannot wait for next year.  The new appointed officers are Nathan and Lidia.

History Club Fundraising:  Oliver's candy bars sales wrapped up for the year. Sales whet great!  Planning a 50/50 raffle next semester  Maybe another history day/pizza sales Trips  First trip of the semester will be to Falls  Mt. Hope Cemetery  other local historical sites will be visited  Big trip to over spring break Others  Working on setting up a scholarship between history students at GCC transferring to Brockport  New lecture series line up out for Spring 2016 semester.

ISO  Our Ice Skating trip in November was a success. 32 people from 10 countries attended.  Sports Night was also very well attended and we played games and ate Subway.  We hosted a at Merchant Cove in November, too.

 Finally, ISO sponsored the Conversation Buddies Bake Sale in November just before Thanksgiving. We made about $75 and people had a chance to finish up their buddy hours for Mrs. K's classes.

Literary Club  We co-sponsored an Open Mic Night in the Student Union on Thursday, December 3. Our co-hosts are Student Activities and College Village. We thank them for their support.  November was National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo.) Aspiring writers got together on Thursday, November 12 and Thursday, November 19 to write and spend time with others who share a passion for words!  Also, on Thursday, November 12, Literary Club participated in the successful program: GCC Reads…”I Am Malala”  Last meeting of the semester is Thursday, December 10 at 1pm in Room B250.

Multi-Cultural Comm. Minutes not received

Native American Student Group  We had our first meeting of the fall semester on November 20. It was an evening meeting that wasn’t as well attended as we had hoped. Our next meeting will be held during Common Hour.  We are exploring possibilities for a speaker or other presentation for the general public during the spring semester.  Our next meeting will be held on Thursday, December 10. It will be a Bring a Friend Pizza Party.

New Age Circle Our last month has been pretty quiet with club members just getting together to discuss a variety of topics. We are also happy but sad that one of our members is transferring at the end of this semester to Empire State College to pursue a career in Art Therapy. Angelique Porey has been with us for 2 years and has been a creative and energetic member of the club during that time. We wish her all the best in this next chapter of her life. 

Outdoor Adventure  On Saturday, November 21st we went for a five mile hike at Mendon Ponds Park. The trip included a visit to the Wild Wings Raptor Rehabilitation Center in the park and hand-feeding wild chickadees alongside the trail.  We postponed our indoor rock climbing trip since students are currently busy with end-of-semester studies.

 At our last meeting of the semester we shared pizza and discussed how to dress appropriately for outdoor winter activities in Western New York. We also presented one of our advisers, Christine Zabala, with a goodbye gift since, unfortunately, she won’t be at GCC next semester.  Meetings will resume in January. Our first activity for the spring semester will likely be indoor rock climbing and we also talked about going ice skating.

P.E. Club – not represented

Phi Theta Kappa  We hosted our first PTK Informational Meeting this semester on November 24th.  Smarty Pants have come in! Free pairs will be given out to PTK members who attended the Informational meeting. We are selling them for $25 if you are interested.  Honors in Action Project- rough draft was due on December 1st. Our topic is diversity and we want to create awareness for diversity at GCC. Why does diversity divide us?  College project – Co-sponsoring career services, transfer and advisement events. Collaborating with CAB for Stress Week, which is currently going on right now! Massages, therapy puppies, painting, stress balls, snacks, etc. Come join in on the fun and reduce your stress during finals week! We implemented a study lounge that is open from 6pm to 10pm in S103 from Monday through Thursday. College Tours will be announced next semester as well as a part of our College Project.  Like our Facebook Page! Photography Club Our club will has attended a few exhibitions, First Friday in Buffalo and Rochester, and are planning a show for next years Scholars Symposium.

Physical Therapy Assistant – not represented

PSG Club  With such a small number of students in the program this year, it has been hard to hold meetings or plan fundraisers.  The Niagara chocolates candy bar sale is on-going.  We hope to hold a full meeting at the beginning of the spring semester.  The club will once again be assisting the first year students with fees for the CPR class in February and the second year students with fees for their board review seminar on April 15 and 16, 2016.

SHAG  SHAG is sponsoring the “Keep Calm Café” this final week of classes in the library: free snacks, coffee, highlighters, healthy stress free tips, etc.  SHAG is providing Christmas Cookies and Holiday Treats for our Military students in the Veterans Lounge later this week and next.  SHAG will have a planning lunch in January to plan activities for spring semester.

Travel Club  Travel Club will be visiting Toronto on March 10th – 12th. We plan to visit area hotels, eat dinner at 360 degrees, the restaurant at the top of the CN Tower, eat at Wayne Gretsky’s and enjoy a Comedy Improv Show at Second City.  We are wrapping up our 50/50 Raffle on Thursday the 10th. Tickets are $1.00 each or 10 for $5.00  Our spring agenda includes participation in the Random Act of Kindness week, as well as preparing for our trip.

TV Club We interviewed Greg Sharpe from the Food Processing Technology program. After editing we'll be posting the video on YouTube. We are setting up other interviews with members from the community and GCC staff.

Vet Tech  was run by Kerri Thomas, Club president, on November 18th 2015 at 12:30 pm at GCC Room C300.  The freshman class was invited to attend the meeting to vote on t-shirt and sweatshirt ideas, and what events are coming up. • Kerri Thomas Discussed designs and asked if anyone had new ideas for the design.

• Everyone voted for the color of the T-shirts. The choices were Blue, Maroon, Black, Purple, and Camouflage. Blue one with a vote of 27. We also voted on the color of our emblem. Kerri Thomas is finding out prices and she is going to get some samples for the club members to look at. The design was decided on a later date and presented to the freshman class. They agreed with the design and we are moving forward with that for the t-shirts and sweatshirts. Harvest Fest was on October 15th, 2015.  It was hosted in the forum at GCC. We had local schools come view the animals for the harvest festival. We had two calves, two sheep, two ducks and two goats. It was a great turn out and the animals didn’t mind it. A big thanks to Boces for allowing us to use their sheep and ducks. Thank you to Lamb farm for allowing us to use your calves. This allowed the public to get to see animals up close and it allowed us to educate the public about animals, the Veterinary Technology Program, and about local farms around GCC.  Also during the harvest fest we had an informational stand along with a stand where apple cider and donuts were sold. • Dr. Farrell came to discuss Nutrition on animals during the common hour Thursday September 24, 2015. • Fall seminar for NYSAVT was on Saturday October 31st, 2015.  It was hosted at GCC. We had a few people sign up to help host it. It was recommended to be a member of NYSAVT in order to help with . The jobs included announcing the speakers and helping out with our fundraising stand serving “Witches Brew”. We also had students help direct the attendees towards subway for lunch. • During the Semester we have Vendors that come to Merchant cove in GCC.  They help raise money for our club so we would like to thank them by checking on them throughout the day when they are there and seeing if they need any breaks. We have already had eight Vendors this year which have helped raise the $400 dollars to date.  Allyssa Johnston, treasure gave the treasury report. We have had eight vendors so far and they have earned us about $ 400.00. We also have excess club money that the club could use. Other things discussed:  We briefly went over another fundraiser idea. The coat check. We are looking more into it but are hoping to check coats for the theater when they have events.  We discussed possibly having the Zoo Mobile associated with the Seneca Park Zoo come sometime to help introduce animals into our community. We are going to look into it.

Western Art History  The Western Art History Club had four very successful events this past month. The Albion and Medina centers collected items for Operation Christmas Child and we were able to fill three boxes to be sent to children around the world.  Close to home 5 coats/jackets were collected for the coat drive in both campus centers.

 The tour of the Gothic Revival style churches was a success and each participant enjoyed the experience.  Our 2nd annual Mennonite pie sale was also met with high praise from all who purchased pies and rolls to support the club.  We still have 3 Save Around books for sale. If you need a last minute gift see us first.
