1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 A HOUSE RESOLUTION 10 11 TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR THE RIVER BLUFF HIGH 12 SCHOOL GIRLS TENNIS TEAM, COACHES, AND SCHOOL 13 OFFICIALS FOR AN OUTSTANDING SEASON AND TO 14 CONGRATULATE THEM FOR WINNING THE 2017 SOUTH 15 CAROLINA HIGH SCHOOL LEAGUE CLASS AAAAA GIRLS 16 TENNIS STATE CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE. 17 18 Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives is pleased 19 to learn that the members of the River Bluff High School girls 20 tennis team of Lexington County took top honors at the state 21 competition on Saturday, November 4, 2017, at the Cayce Tennis 22 Center; and 23 24 Whereas, the River Bluff Gators defeated the Spartanburg High 25 School Vikings 42 to win the South Carolina High School League 26 Class AAAAA Girls Tennis State Championship. This win capped 27 off a 214 record for the season; and 28 29 Whereas, it took a 104 third set tiebreaker by Maegan Togneri to 30 seal the title for River Bluff. Togneri lost the first set 3-6 but won 31 the second 62 to force the tiebreaker. She lost the first three points 32 in the firsttoten tiebreaker but rallied to win ten of the final eleven 33 points to give the Gators their first state title in the five years of the 34 program’s existence. “When Maegan was down, she knew it was 35 going to take two sets to win,” Coach Brian Lim said. “It didn’t 36 matter what happened before. She was able to refocus and trust 37 herself, trust her game. With her confidence and the support from 38 the team, she pulled it out.”; and 39 40 Whereas, as has been their calling card all season, the Gators relied 41 on incredible energy and a true team effort from talented players in 42 all of the singles and doubles slots. River Bluff picked up

[4575] 1 1 additional wins by Liyin Zhu and Kiana Thatcher in singles and by 2 the doubles team of Elizabeth Roquemore and Shelby Byers to set 3 the stage for Togneri’s pivotal match; and 4 5 Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of 6 Representatives are grateful for the pride and recognition that 7 River Bluff’s girls tennis team has brought to its school and 8 community and look forward to hearing of their accomplishments 9 in the days ahead. Now, therefore, 10 11 Be it resolved by the House of Representatives: 12 13 That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, 14 by this resolution, recognize and honor the River Bluff High 15 School girls tennis team, coaches, and school officials for an 16 outstanding season and congratulate them for winning the 2017 17 South Carolina High School League Class AAAAA Girls Tennis 18 State Championship title. 19 20 Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to 21 Principal Dr. Luke Clamp and Coach Brian Lim. 22 XX 23
