PROGRAM ARTICULATION AGREEMENT

BETWEEN

COLLEGE OF DUPAGE GLEN ELLYN, ILLINOIS

AND

SOUTHERN ILLINOIS UNIVERSITY, CARBONDALE CARBONDALE, ILLINOIS

In an effort to provide a continued, articulated higher education baccalaureate degree program that will build on community college and university learning experiences, and also eliminate duplication of instruction, this agreement is set forth between College of DuPage and the Board of Trustees of Southern Illinois University on behalf of Southern Illinois University Carbondale (SIUC).

1. All graduates of College of DuPage with an Associate of Applied Science Degree with a major of Pre-Architecture and meeting SIUC entrance requirements will be granted admission based on space availability, into SIUC's Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Architectural Studies in the College of Applied Sciences and Arts.

2. A College of DuPage graduate receiving an AAS Degree in Pre-Architecture and following the transfer guide provided, will be accepted into the Architectural Studies Program at the third year level if the following are met:

(a) admission to the university (b) a minimum of 60 transferable hours to SIUC (c) an overall grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or above (4.0 scale) on all accredited work received prior to the awarding of the AAS degree as calculated by SIUC's grading regulations (d) a minimum grade of ‘C’ in all major coursework (e) the completion of coursework outlined in the Transfer Guide for College of DuPage students.

Acceptance into this Two-Plus-Two Agreement allows the AAS degree recipient at College of DuPage who follows the transfer guide the ability to complete the Architectural Studies Bachelor’s degree with a total of no less than 60 semester hours of work at SIUC.

3. College of DuPage graduates receiving an AAS degree in Pre-Architecture and following the transfer guide with less than a 3.0 overall GPA and/or students who did not receive a ‘C’ in all major coursework must submit a portfolio for admission and placement purposes.

4. College of DuPage students transferring to the Architectural Studies baccalaureate degree program at SIUC who have not completed all of their Associate of Applied Science Degree

SIUC and College of DuPage Architectural Studies Articulation Agreement Page 1 requirements at College of DuPage will have their related coursework evaluated on a course- by-course basis by the School of Architecture.

5. Students will be required to complete 60 senior institution hours and at least 128 hours with an overall GPA of 2.0 to receive a Bachelor of Science degree in Architectural Studies. Coursework may include University Core Curriculum as well as SIUC major courses.

6. An SIUC Architectural Studies representative will communicate periodically with College of DuPage personnel in Pre-Architecture for general advisement and degree planning purposes.

7. Upon successful completion of all degree requirements, and following all policies and regulations stated in the program and university guidelines, College of DuPage students will be eligible to receive the Bachelor of Science degree in Architectural Studies, College of Applied Sciences and Arts, Southern Illinois University Carbondale.

8. Should changes occur in course or program content, the school making the change agrees to notify the other school in writing so that this agreement can be re-evaluated. Notice of changes shall be given at least 45 days prior to the beginning of the semester when the change is implemented.

9. The parties acknowledge that many student educational records are protected by the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and that the written authorization of student(s) must be obtained before student data can be released to anyone. The parties agree that any access to student records shall be in compliance with FERPA.

10. This agreement is subject to change by legislative action, the Department of Education, the Southern Illinois University Board of Trustees, or the College of DuPage Board of Trustees.

11. Indemnification: A. To the extent permitted by law, SIUC shall indemnify and hold harmless the College, its agents and employees, from any claims, demands, or causes of action arising out of the negligent acts or omissions of SIUC, its agents or employees, in the performance of SIUC’s obligations under this Agreement. B. To the extent permitted by law, the College shall indemnify and hold harmless SIUC, its agents and employees, from any claims, demands, or causes of action arising out of the negligent acts or omissions of the College, its agents or employees, in the performance of the College’s obligations under this Agreement.

12. Reasonable efforts will be made to resolve problems with student(s) through discussions with the student’s program instructor, supervisor and SIUC’s faculty members; however SIUC reserves the right to remove any student from enrollment at SIUC upon the determination that the student is unable or unwilling to fulfill the requirements of SIUC’s educational program and mission, including but not limited to the rules and regulations of Southern Illinois University Carbondale, the policies of the Board of Trustees of SIUC, and the SIUC Student Conduct Code. SIUC shall also have the right to withdraw any student from its educational degree

SIUC and College of DuPage Architectural Studies Articulation Agreement Page 2 program in accordance with its academic requirements, including but not limited to unsatisfactory academic performance and/or social misconduct.

13. Neither party will discriminate against any applicant or student in the nomination, selection, or training because of religion, race, sex, creed, handicap, national origin, or age.

14. Notices should be mailed to the following addresses by first class mail in order to fulfill any notice or revision requirements under this Agreement:

15. This Agreement shall be in effect as of the Effective Date stated hereinabove and shall automatically renew until either party terminates this Agreement by sending written notification of such termination to the other parties no less than ninety (90) days prior to the end of the semester in effect at the time. Termination shall be effected at the end of that period, provided no student currently enrolled is deprived the opportunity to complete course requirements due to this action. Notwithstanding the aforementioned, this Agreement shall be subject to review every year.

*For a two year completion rate, the second physics class should be taken prior to the beginning of the fall semester at SIUC. It can be taken over the summer at COD (Physics 1202) or at SIUC (Phys 203B and 253B).

It is recommended that students take additional core curriculum classes during summer semesters to lighten the loads during fall and spring semesters and to try to avoid scheduling conflicts.

NOTE: This is not an actual contract between the University and the student, this is simply a guide for suggested coursework. Courses and requirements are subject to change. Students should check with their advisor at COD and SIUC at least once each semester.
