(10) Share with me who or what had Grandpa's teeth the entire time. (Answer) Gump, the dog. (Follow Up) Who did you think had stolen Grandpa's teeth?

Activities

1. Draw a picture of Grandpa without his teeth and Gump, the dog with his teeth. Label your picture.

2. Make a wanted poster like the one in our book. Make sure to include where they were taken from, whom they belong to and the reward being offered.

3. Write a thank you card from Grandpa to the town thanking them for his new set of teeth.

4. Write a thank you note from Mrs. Carbuncle to Grandpa thanking him for the set of teeth he gave her.

Introductions

1. Have several pictures of people smiling. Ask the children what they think the people are smiling about? Say, " Do you think they might just want people to see their teeth? Today we are going to read about what happens to a town when one person's teeth come up missing."

2. Have a picture of your grandfather. Tell the children who it is. Tell them a short story about something that happened to your grandfather and the say " A lot of things have happened to my grandpa but he has never lost his teeth! Today we are going to read about a grandpa that did loose his teeth. Let's see what happened."

3. Have a set of plastic teeth or a picture of teeth on the table. Ask the children how important their teeth are to them? Discuss this. Then say, " Today we are going to read about someone who gets their teeth stolen!! Let's read and find out if they get them back.
