Shoemaker Elementary PTO Meeting Minutes November 10, 2016

1. Welcome  President, Melissa Calder o In general, things are improving for PTO compared to how things started for this board this summer

2. Introductions / Attendees  There were 9 members in attendance

3. Principal’s Address  Preparing for conferences  Veterans Day program tomorrow 4. Minutes Approval  Jenn Bloch  Nikki Bloom 5. Treasurer's Report

 Coupon books sold less than estimated, but still very successful

o $5,857.50 ($342.50 under)

 Pasta Night made slightly more than estimated, great evening

o $637.32 ($137.32 over)

 Spirit Wear, online & in school, has sold well over estimated amount, and continues to sell

o $1,199.00 ($1,149.00 over)

 Dessert Days Pie Fundraiser was also very successful – students sold well over their goal of 600 pies

o We have to write a check to Joe Corbi for pies when they deliver on 11/17/2016, will know exact profit at that time

. Estimated profit, $7,000

 Meeting attendees voted to pay the difference second grade needed to cover remainder of their grade field trip cost, because they scheduled the trip before they knew the 2016- 2017 field trip budget o Kendra will send an email to remaining teachers, to inform them of their budgets for field trip this school year

6. Pie Sale Update

 Big Wheel Race / Pie in Face date options

o December Mustang Mtng may be too busy / not enough room due to holiday singing

o January Mustang Mtng, possible

o Another short assembly, just to do hold these events?

 Lynn will talk to highest seller, Nathan Rodgers, about which teacher he hopes to throw at

 Mrs. Schneck is the second teacher ‘allowing’ a pie  from the highest selling class

 Pie Pick Up Reminder Email

o Two days prior to pick up, Melissa will send email / reminder to Lynn

. Ask all teachers to distribute PTO provided email to parents (with no additional school information), in the hopes that we reach as many as possible people and decrease pie pick up issues

o Wait & see on pie pick up date, regarding pie delivery to food bank that night

7. Upcoming PTO Events (updates)

 Barnes & Noble Night

. Paperwork distributed

. Reversing arrangement at Barnes & Noble

. Cut reading time

. Need giveaways for scavenger hunt

 Conference Week (11/17 – 11/23)

o Co-Chairs - Emily Doster & Danielle DiGiordano

. $300 at Wegmans for dinner Tuesday . Snacks limited to teachers

. Brainstorming on ideas for Spring 2017 as well

 Snowball (12/9)

o Theme – Gingerbread man stole the snowball and turned it into Candyland!

o Looking for additional volunteers on 1/11 & 1/18 to help with reading totals at the school

. ‘Pep rally’ at the school to kick off the Read-A-Thon, teachers doing a flash mob type cheer

. Week 2 – January 10 – 16

. Due January 17 o Crystal revising Read-A-Thon forms, will send around drafts for approval

o Shoemaker may compete with Wescosville for highest minutes

o Trophy vs perpetual plaque in the lobby for celebrating winners
