Film Hub North West Central Bursary Scheme Guidelines

FILM HUB NORTH WEST CENTRAL BURSARY SCHEME GUIDELINES

Film Hub NWC are committed to supporting Hub members’ professional development and the wider sharing of knowledge and best practice throughout the Hub.

As a member of the Hub you can apply for a bursary to enable you to attend relevant conferences, training courses, festivals and other events.

In order to qualify for a bursary you must be able to show how attendance at the event/ course will benefit your current role, your organisation and the wider Hub network. If your application is successful you will be required to report back to the Hub in the format of an evaluation form, you may also be asked for a blog for the Hub website.

Please note that we have a limited amount of support available and therefore this is a competitive process.

What events can I apply for?

The bursary scheme is bespoke in order to support our wide and diverse range of Hub Member organisations. You can apply for a bursary to attend an event that you feel will be of benefit to a film project, your organisation or personal development.

For example you may apply to attend:

 A marketing course run by the Independent Cinema Office to aid in reaching new audiences  London Film Festival to aid in film programming  A festival in Europe that focuses on youth engagement to aid in your organisation’s young programmers strategy

If we have supported you via our bursary scheme to attend a festival previously then it’s unlikely that we will approve a request to attend the same festival again.

How much can I apply for?

Film Hub NWC can fund up to 100% of the total cost of fees and travel and accommodation, however there is a limit of £500 per organisation for this interim period until 31 st December 2017

Applications should bear in mind that Film Hub NWC’s bursary scheme utilises public funds therefore all support requested should be reasonable and travel should be standard class.

Eligible expenses include:

 Standard/ 2nd class rail, bus and air fares  Petrol costs @45p per mile  Festival fees, tickets  Accommodation

Ineligible expenses include:  Alcohol  First class travel  Staffing cover for your organision  Subsistence- will be reviewed on a case by case basis but we would expect this to be supported by yourself or your organisation. What is the closing date for the Bursary Scheme?

This is a rolling fund until 31st December 2017 however your application will need to be assessed by the Film Hub Management Team so we ask that you submit your form at least 2 weeks prior to the event and in advance of confirming your place/ tickets. We cannot support applications that are submitted after attendance at the event.

Can more than one person from my organisation apply?

For each course/ event we can usually only support one application per organisation. However this is decided on a case-by-case basis so please contact us should you feel it would be of benefit for more than one team member to attend.

I am not a Hub Member can I still apply?

No, you need to be a Hub member in order to be able to access funding schemes. For more information on membership or to become a member please see the FAQ section of the Film Hub website. www.filmhubnwc.org

How will my bursary application be assessed?

The Film Hub team at HOME will assess each application individually as to the benefit to the organisation and wider Hub in attending the event. Applications that need further consideration will be sent to the Hub Steering Group for comment.

If I am successful how and when will I be paid?

The bursary will be paid by BACS on completion of the course or event following production of receipts, a completed expenses form, the required evaluation form and a blog (should this be requested by the Hub team). The expense form (and related documents required) must be submitted within 3 months of completion otherwise the costs will not be honoured.

To apply you will need to complete a bursary application form and email this to [email protected],
