MARY LAKE ASSOCIATION Minutes of Annual General Meeting Held on Saturday July 7, 2007 Port Sydney Community Hall, Port Sydney
1. Welcome Jane welcomed everyone to the meeting. Jane introduced Norm Miller and Tony Clement Norm Miller brought greetings and spoke to some of the issues – dam, water levels, etc MPP Tony Clements brought greetings and spoke for a few minutes on current issues. MP Jane introduced Chris Zanetti – Huntsville Councillor and Trevor Giffin from the MNR at High Falls
2. Water Levels Paul Johnson and Doug Johnson Paul spoke on the water levels and showed a presentation on the Muskoka River Water Management Plan (MRWMP) and went through what the Plan contained and what the MLA has done about these water levels MLA to do a study of the environmental impact of these water levels this year Paul thanked Doug for all his work over the last 10 years Paul then answered questions on these issues.
3. Dam and Beach
Ryan talked about the dam and the walkway and what has happened over the last few months. Ryan introduced Mayor Claude Doughty to speak to this issue of the dam walkway – alternate structure. Mayor Doughty answered questions on different issues. sand either in the summer or fall for the beach
4. Navigation Buoys Mike Greenfield spoke to this issue as the Huntsville Lakes Council. He mentioned a number of issues the H.L.C is addressing
5. Water Quality Jane introduced Will Brunner who will be helping with water quality this summer. Jane updated us on water quality around the lake. Jane indicated that Dock Talk would be back again this year Jane introduced Jim Steele who talked about drinking water quality and how you can maintain your well and filtration system.
6. Mary Lake Plan Paul updated us on the Mary Lake – “Lake Plan” into the official plan.
7. WRAFT Jane mentioned that there was a handout from WRAFT 8. Internet Ryan made a couple announcements about high speed internet and the proposed interchange a South Mary Lake Road – work has started
9. Financial Report Harold Balderson brought us his financial report – copy on file Moved by – Harold Balderson Seconded by Elsie Polk Passed 10. Officers Jane introduced the slate of officers for the – copy of slate of officer on file Jane moved this motion Seconded by Dave Hogg Passed
11. Presidential Summary Jane gave a brief Presidential summary and thanked people for all the work they have done in the past.
12. Dock Talk Jane introduced Will Brunner and he gave a presentation on Dock Talk – mainly looking at what we as owners can do about our shorelines, septic systems, etc. also talked about “invasive species” List of native plants available.
13. “Nature Clean” Product Draw – Jane gave out a number of products by a draw Jane asked Linda Lowe to come forward and present an award to Ryan Kidd for all the work he’s done with the Chamber and many other committees that he’s been involved in. This award is the Citizen of the Year.
