MOMS – We Want You! BAT 1000 to Offer Coaching Clinic for Moms to Help Save Youth Sports

Joined by Olympic Gold Medalist and Caltech Athletic Director Betsy Mitchell, internationally recognized Doctor of Physical Therapy Lilian Chen, and advised by New York Times Bestselling parenting expert Tina Payne Bryson and SMNLL President Jim Balbin, Coaches Pete and Mack Paciorek will advance the BAT 1000 Coaching Excellence agenda by presenting a FREE interactive coaches clinic for women (particularly moms) at Clairbourn School on Sunday, November 1st from 2- 3pm, preceded by a discussion on this topic from 1-2pm.

San Gabriel, CA – In response to the alarming statistic that 70% of children are dropping out of organized sports by the time they are 13 years old, BAT 1000 is inviting parents, particularly MOMS of young children ages 4 to 12, to attend the second in a series of talks hosted by Clairbourn School on Sunday, November 1st at 1pm, followed by a Mom’s Coaching Clinic on the field at 2pm. BAT 1000 coaches, along with guest speakers, will be discussing the theory that greater involvement by moms, or women in general, in youth coaching is necessary to promote a healthier, “Kid’s First” approach to youth sports.

During the Mom’s Coaching Clinic from 2pm to 3pm, the BAT 1000 coaches will instruct participants on the basic rules of baseball, as well as a series of cutting-edge, progression-based functional fitness, catching, throwing, base running and hitting drills that will provide an exciting, yet challenging environment for an ideal practice. “It’s a great way for moms to become comfortable with baseball fundamentals,” says Mack Paciorek of BAT 1000. “By the end of the day, these women will know how to run an efficient, developmental and fun baseball practice. Even if they decide not to coach, it will help them be more confident just playing catch with their kids.”

“The tremendously positive educational and human development aspect of competitive sports participation is being drowned out of the important youth sports conversation by the influence of entertainment sport models, both collegiate and professional, as well as by the often ego driven antics of youth sport coaches,” notes Caltech Athletic Director Betsy Mitchell. “We need a new model of leadership and coaching in youth sports to align the philosophy and positive benefits of youth sports with the reality of the experience in many of today's leagues.”

“I love what Mack Paciorek and BAT 1000 are doing with this new program,” says Tina Payne Bryson. “Youth sports can contribute to a child's development in many ways, both good and bad. And the more we can get caring parents--not just dads, but moms as well--involved in this part of their kids' lives, the more we can help direct the type of experiences our kids receive on the playing field.”

"I am totally on-board with the idea of moms coaching in little league," states San Marino National Little League President Jim Balbin. "In fact, my son's first little league coaches were moms, and they did a great job. Moms - Sign up to coach, San Marino National Little League wants you!"

Adds Pete Paciorek of BAT 1000, “Over the past six years, 2.4 million more children than ever before are annually dropping out of youth sports because the fun has been stripped away by the ‘Win at all Costs’ mentality. Studies show that women are natural teachers and nurturers, can find a balance between competition and cooperation, are process rather than results-driven, place a high emphasis on sportsmanship, and are safety conscious. All of these are the ideal qualities of a youth coach, especially between 5 and 10 years old when development is most critical.”

Those interested in attending these free programs can register at http://www.bat1000.net/coaching- excellence-seminars.html. Clairbourn School is located at 8400 Huntington Drive, San Gabriel, CA 91775.

Offering a safer alternative to Travel Ball, The Sandlot is a “Kid’s First” developmental program offering children from 5 to 10 years old a more fun, fast-paced and efficient answer to Travel Ball as it combines advanced scientific training methods with old-school baseball game play. The Sandlot is run by BAT 1000 instructors on Sundays at Clairbourn School in San Gabriel, with the Pre-Season Session scheduled for 5 Sundays starting in early January 2016 from 3:30 to 6pm.

The BAT 1000 youth coaching philosophy is Prepare to be Perfect. From the very first session when all of our participants are taught how to hold a baseball, the BAT 1000 goal is to train each child to expect to succeed when their “big league moment” comes. Through proper fundamentals and training programs designed to promote ongoing skills development, the BAT 1000 program encourages individual progress in a fun, yet safe learning environment.
