My Community Video Contest Frequently Asked Questions 1. Who is sponsoring the My Community Video Contest? Reston Association (RA) is the sponsor of the My Community Video Contest. 2. How long does the contest run? The contest officially begins 08/01/2013 and runs through 12/31/2013. No videos will be accepted after December 31, 2013. Winners will be notified in February 2014 and cash prizes awarded in April 2014. 3. Who should I contact if I have additional questions? The contest is coordinated by volunteers from the RA Communications Advisory Committee (CAC), with support from Reston Community Center and Reston Historic Trust volunteers. Where are the Official Contest Rules? www.Reston.org presents all Official Contest Rules, including entry and eligibility, along with video technical requirements, submission guidelines, and required legal forms. 5. Who can participate in the contest? The contest is open to all Reston residents, workers and RA members, 13 or over, who reside or work in Reston, VA. 6. How long should the video run? Qualifying videos will be 3 minutes or less in run time. 7. What should the video be about? The video should illustrate to the community why you love to Live, Work, Play or Get Involved in Reston, VA. 8. What are the technical parameters? Video can be no larger than 300 MB and must be in one of the following file formats: QuickTime (.mov) or mpeg-4 (.mp4). Preferred resolution is 720P 1280x720 with an aspect ratio of 16:9. Most video cameras and cell phone cameras comply. 9. How do I submit my video? Entrants will post their video to their personal YouTube account. Be sure to retain your original video file – do not delete from your camera or phone. They then complete the submission process via email to [email protected]. Note: Be sure your name, video title and contest category are included in your opening shot. 10. I want to make a video, but don’t have a camera. Resources are available for those who wish to participate, but do not have access to recording equipment. For more information, contact [email protected]. 11. What happens to my video after I submit it? Videos will be pre-screened to ensure compliance with Official Contest Rules. Qualifying videos will be posted to RA’s Facebook page and You Tube Channel. 12. Who picks the winning videos? A panel of judges will review all videos to determine winners. Judging of the Most Popular video winner will also take into consideration the number of community votes, via “Likes” on Facebook. 13. What are the prizes? Prizes: Grand Prize: $1,000 Most Popular: $250 Honorable Mention: $125 (4) AND winning videos will be on display during the April 5, 2014 Anniversary Celebration at Reston Community Center.
