FT-GATE/Mailgateway Description:

FT-Gate is software that acts as a stand-alone mail server and sends and retrieves mail to and from a remote ISP’s mail server. It still needs a remote mail server to be able to send and receive mail to the outside world. FT-Gate’s primary function is to download mail from the remote mail server and distribute it to the users on the local company’s network. Please note that FT-Gate can’t be used on Unix or Linux systems. Unix and Linux uses Qmail already installed for this purpose. FTGate can be used on Microsoft platforms.

What does the FTGate product offer the customer?

You get to choose from Analogue or Isdn dialup, each of which has a 10,20 and 50-user license. This also includes a local (.co.za) domain registration or update to Intekom. It also includes a pop3 mail account.

What should be on the FTGate application?

 The domain name to be registered or updated.  The user license type i.e. FTGate 10 user Analogue.  A list of aliases to be used to download mail. Normally these aliases are the same as the domain name, i.e. [email protected]  The correct pricing for the products. Le Roy Swart Page 2 2018/06/03 2

Process flow with FT Gate.

 Customer phones Idirect (0800 500 200) requesting an FT-Gate (Mailgateway product)

 Idirect agent will fax or e-mail the client an info page and an application form.

Telkom Business Integration Services INTERNET MAIL SOLUTIONS

Why your company should have e-mail

With e-mail, you can send and receive messages at any time from any computer, anywhere in the world. We’ll set up your complete business e-mail service with a personalized e-mail address for each staff member. Plus, with dedicated leased lines to the SAIX backbone, your mail will be sent and received instantly, nationally and internationally. E-mail is also ideal for internal communication, saving time and improving efficiency.

Mail gateway explained

This technology provides everyone in your business with his or her own e-mail box. This means there is no need for separate Internet access accounts and telephone lines. One shared Internet dial-up account and telephone line is all that is required. These mailboxes can be accessed over the Internet with any PoP3 client such as Eudora, Netscape, Pegasus, etc. E-mail can be also be forwarded to an existing dial-up account at no additional fee, saving you money.

What is Mail spooling?

If your business needs additional e-mail facilities at an affordable rate, then you should host your e-mail on Intekom’s secure servers. This will then allow you to enjoy the benefits of hosting with an ISP without the server maintenance cost. By doing this, your staff can have individual e-mail boxes that can be accessed over the Internet through a single, shared dial-up account and telephone. Apart from the obvious cost-savings, there are several other advantages:

 Retaining corporate identity  Convenient mail storage facilities  Pointing of e-mail addresses  The opportunity to customize user names and passwords Le Roy Swart Page 3 2018/06/03 3

A Mailing list and your business

How many times have you had to print out a flyer or letter pop it into an envelope and send it out to one of your clients or association members? If your business or association requires the added value of bulk e-mailing to a prescribed list of people, then our mailing list solutions are what you require to improve your bottom line.

Intekom offers two solutions to meet your needs:

 Moderated – this allows you to have the final say in what e-mails the subscribers to your list receive. You will be required to “vote” on each e-mail to allow it to be distributed.  Open – any mail sent to the mailing list will automatically be distributed.

Whichever option you choose, Intekom has a cost effective communication solution to meet your changing business needs.

This web interface can be found at:

http://soc.intekom.com/
