ROLE: Volunteer Fundraising Assistant REPORTS TO: Fundraising Manager ACCOUNTABLE TO: Trust Chief Executive

The Sara Lee Trust The Sara Lee Trust provides essential support and care to local people who are affected by cancer and other life threatening conditions as well as to their families and carers. The Trust is also the dedicated provider of these services for the patients of St Michael’s Hospice and the Rye, Winchelsea and District Memorial Hospital. Apart from a small, but important, grant from Hastings & Rother NHS (Clinical Commissioning Group), the Trust is totally reliant on donations and fundraising activity to fund its operations..

ROLE SUMMARY The Trust organises a programme of fundraising events and activities each year to help raise vital funds. We are seeking a volunteer to work with the Fundraising Team on a regular basis to assist on a wide range of interesting fundraising projects. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a busy team and develop new skills whilst supporting the Trust to deliver its essential care and support services to local people.

Key Duties  Assisting with day-to-day fundraising and events activities  Sending out fundraising materials as requested by supporters;  Supporting the fundraising team with event co-ordination and event support (as needed)  With support from the Fundraising Manager, to research new developments and opportunities for fundraising.  Helping with event promotion and mailings  Research and mail support requests ie raffle prize requests  To ensure that full records of all contacts are maintained on the database in accordance with the team's requirements;  Assisting with incoming and outgoing phone calls and simple fundraising queries;  Administrative support  Contributing effectively as part of the Trust support team.

General:  Attend team meetings and in house training as needed;  You will work towards maintaining the quality and consistency of the Trust’s message and for ensuring that all activity is undertaken in such a way as will not compromise the good name of the Trust;  You may be asked to undertake other tasks that may, from time to time, be necessary and compatible with the nature of this opportunity such as attending events.

Other Responsibilities  Liaise directly with the Fundraising Manager regarding all aspects of the volunteer role;  Undertake and complete all training required for the role;  Develop good relationships with the Trust teams and with the general public;  Adhere to organisational policies and procedures at all times;  Ensure all supporters are thanked and feel valued for their contribution;  Promote public understanding of the work of the Sara Lee Trust and the importance of raising funds highlighting the difference it makes;  Participate in one-to-one support with the Fundraising Manager  Attend and share own thoughts and ideas at volunteer meetings;  Handle customer complaints and concerns according to guidelines;  Approach communications in a courteous and professional manner.

Health & Safety  Ensure the health and safety of customers, staff and fellow volunteers by following general procedures and identifying hazards;  Maintain a constant awareness of health, welfare and safety issues affecting self, colleagues and customers/donors reporting any potential risks, accidents, incidents or near misses in line with organisational policies and procedures;  Abide by all Trust Health and Safety Policies and Procedures;  Be aware of and comply with the Fire Regulations as required.

Further information regarding the role:

Time commitment  Preferably half to one day per week and you will ideally be interested in taking on the role for at least 6 months

Induction and training  Information and induction will be provided

Ongoing support and guidance  You will be fully supported by the Fundraising Manager and will be given regular 1:1s throughout the year  Opportunities to meet and network with staff and fellow volunteers  Regular updates about the Trusts work
