The presentations from Centene Corporation and Express Scripts are available on the MCPF website (www.mcpf.us) under ‘Meeting Minutes and Presentations’.

Comments from Mike Marks at Ameren UE are summarized below: Prior to the Grand Jury Decision

 Planning is critical o Identify potential threats to: . Co-workers (traveling to and from work, traveling between work locations, daily work assignments, potential of getting caught in a quickly developing situation) – importance of personal awareness of surroundings and personal safety . Buildings / facilities

 Benefits derived from establishing / Building Relationships with Other Energy Providers/Law Enforcement/Local Corporate neighbors

 Establish priorities – let them guide your efforts through the event

- 2 - THE FORUM ESTABLISHED TO FACILITATE THE EXCHANGE AND DISSEMINATION OF INFORMATION REGARDING ALL ASPECTS OF CONTINGENCY PLANNING IN BOTH THE PRIVATE AND PUBLIC SECTORS, INCLUDING BUSINESS INTERRUPTION AVOIDANCE, BUSINESS RESUMPTION PLANNING, CONTINGENCY OPERATIONS, AND DISASTER RECOVERY PLANNING.

o Importance of remaining flexible in thinking and actions (explore adjustments to working hours and work schedules)

 Development and use of a tested operational safety protocol was key to safeguarding the safety of Ameren co-workers

 Importance of an emergency communications capability with co-workers

Immediately following the Grand Jury Announcement

 Value of the “Watch Center” concept was proven

 Put a plan together; work that plan – stay consistent

 The speed at which conditions changed across the Metropolitan area was unprecedented; reflects the need to develop agility in thought process, reaction and response. Policy development, on the other hand, is properly done in advance.

 Social media is a force to be reckoned with. It can be a force for good and utilized to help tell “your” story. On the other hand, it can quickly make your company and your co-workers “primary targets” of frustration, unrest, and anger.

 Importance of flexible and robust people policies

 The value of constant, on-going persistent communication (internal and external) cannot be overlooked

Looking Forward

 Do we need to develop a strategy to address emergency work in law enforcement “hot zones”

 The question we need to ask ourselves as individual, as companies, as a region…We had time to plan for this event; will we be prepared for the next no-notice event?

Congratulations to our Attendance Prize Winners:  David Reddick – Bio-Defense Network  Glen Woita – Centene Corporation

The next meeting will be the on Thursday, March 19, 2015 at World Wide Technology. See the MCPF Website for additional information.
