Sharp Labs is seeking a Principal Biosensor Systems Engineer. In this position you will lead the effort to develop new biosensor technology platforms at Sharp Labs. Your overall responsibilities will include technical leadership of a team developing biosensor technology, including the following: 1) biosensor transducer and array design, fabrication and optimization, 2) Integration of transducer with bio- elements (functionalization technology) to create application specific biosensor devices, 3) System integration including software control and evaluation of analog/digital sensor system prototypes to support downstream development of a biosensor array device platform and upstream interface to overall system, database and network protocols. You must understand all phases of sensor system development and be able to coordinate the various aspects of the system integration. You also need to interface and coordinate collaborations with other research groups inside and outside of Sharp and be able to effectively interface with both internal and external resources to achieve system completion.

Required skills, knowledge and experience:

1) 8+ years experience developing sensor device and system level prototypes and/or products. Must have a technical background or strong understanding in the following areas: a) Sensor transducer design, fabrication, optimization and packaging for application. b) Functionalization of biosensor transducers for specific applications c) Handling and interpretation of sensor electrical output signals i) Strong understanding of filtering and amplification to deal with small signals ( V) and high noise ii) Capable of debugging and evaluation of system and its components. iii) Understanding of modulation / demodulation techniques. d) Familiarity with sensor transducer drive and read techniques. 2) PhD required in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or similar discipline. 3) Demonstrated ability to lead technical teams

In addition, the following skills and knowledge are desired:

1) Digital signal processing; A/D conversion 2) Experience in packaging technology for sensors; both gas and liquid phase exposure. 3) Wafer level analog/digital device test experience. 4) Working knowledge of surface chemistry. 5) Knowledge of Thin Film Transistor technology. 6) Familiarity with MEMS technology.
