Hello all!

We were graced with another lovely mild, sometimes exceptionally warm month but a depressing one for visitors. February finished equally as disappointingly as January, with 6 more visitors (53) than February 2011, but there were 4 fewer new visitors at 9 than 2011. The only interesting visitor was Romanian Citation YR-TYA, and we completed the “set” of current Flybe E175s when G-FBJA called in. We can only hope the continuing good weather encourages more visitors to our northern outpost in March!

RECONNAISSANCE VENTURES

January 31st saw the end of Reconnaissance Ventures basing an aircraft at Inverness for Pollution Patrol duties. They will operate instead from East Midlands if required. It is not clear as what will happen to the cover they provided as Search and Rescue communications aircraft.

SUMMER PLANS

After a bit of Google searching around web sites and timetables I have discovered the following plans for the summer, all of which needs confirming.

EASYJET: Easyjet will be operating a similar schedule to summer 2011, but glimmer of hope is they are showing A320s on a Friday from Gatwick. At least they will be Gatwick based aircraft so a better chance of rotation than the Glasgow ‘one’ (no offence Glasgow!). I believe that some Wednesday and Sunday flights will be operated A320s as well. DUSSELDORF: A hasty search through the Lufthansa timetable shows an arrival at 1625 and a departure at 1705 on Saturdays between 12th May and 8th September with Boeing 737-500 aircraft. FALCON TRAVEL CHARTERS: Operated by Tor Air last year, I cannot find which airline will be operating these ad hoc charters this year. ZURICH: The scheduled Zurich flights will again be operated by Helvetic on Saturdays from May 12th to September 1st. Arrival in Inverness at 1310 with a planned departure to Zurich at 1350.

Edited from the daily reports:

1st: On a crisp, CAVOK day there was a lot of training going on which brought the first visit of Perth based SR22 N21UK to Inverness. 2nd: Bond sent in EC.135T2 G-GOWF on a first visit whilst on Lighthouse Board duties. A second first visit came with Citationjet VP-BDS which has previously visited as N123AV in 2000. 3rd: Cracking weather in Inverness, but snow in Amsterdam caused delays to the based scheduled flight. 4th: The great sunny days came to an end with a dull overcast and windy Saturday. 5th: Mild and pleasant in Inverness, but snow in the SE of England disrupted some scheduled services. 6th: No useful movements on a nice sunny day. 7th: Another pleasant day and the lack of movements continue. 8th: At last a few movements with a star visitor arriving at tea time YR-TYA a Citation XLS+. 10th: Easyjet kindly provided our 9th A320 from their fleet when G-EZTY arrived from Gatwick on another mild and pleasant day. 11th: SAAB 340F LY-NSB arrived covering for G-GNTB which was poorly. 12th: The only visitor today was Netjet Ce 560XLS CS-DXT. 14th: At last a few movements to record including a brace of Aberdeen helicopters for training. 16th: N21UK SR-22 made its second visit up from Perth today. 18th: Frequent snow showers today, heavy at times but not causing any problems as there was not much to delay! 19th: Now snow today and second visits from PC12 M-OPAL and A319 G-EZGN. 20th: Metro D-CAVA arrived on a second visit to operate mail flights for Ben Air, and G-CCBL, a Jet Ranger called for fuel on a first visit. Flybe Emb.175 G-FBJA visited for the first time from Birmingham. 23rd: There were no fewer than 4 Bond EC.135s today with G-CGPI, G-GOWF, G-SASB and G-SPHU.

Jetstream G-JXTA has been here from 01.10.2007, it still remains following the demise of Highland Airways, and currently looking the worse for wear!

On the 20th Jet Ranger G-CCBL making its 1st visit called in for fuel with the intention of night-stopping. On his way in he spotted a place to spend the night, so after getting fuel he parked up by North Kessock Lifeboat Station underneath the Kessock Bridge! After making its first visit on the second, EC.135T2 G- GOWF returned on the 21st and based itself here whilst flying out daily to operate in the Beatrice Field. During the course of the 23rd there were no fewer than 4 Bond EC.135s visiting with G-CGPI, G-GOWF, G-SASB and G-SPHU. The latter had arrived to take over Helimed duties from G-SASB.

LY-NSB arrived covering for G-GNTB (which had gone off sick) on a Loganair mail flight, and likewise Bin Air’s D-CAVA was substituting for Ben Air’s OY-BJP. All the current Flybe E175s have now been logged here with G-FBJA calling and there is one less EZY A320 following the visits of G-EZTY.
