Rose-Hulman Dining Meal Plans 2016-2017 Overview All students living in a Rose-Hulman Residence Hall are enrolled in a Residence Hall Meal Plan. All Freshman are required to take the Freshman 19 Plan. Upperclassman are required to take one of the block plans offered. For 2016-2017 only, fourth year Seniors are grandfathered as not mandatory to take a block plan, though they may choose to sign up. Effective 2017- 2018 academic year all students living on campus, will be required to take a meal plan.

The 19 meal plan includes meal swipes as well as DB Flex Dollars that can be utilized at certain locations. A meal or card swipe (“swipe”) is an all-you-care-to-eat (AYCTE) meal at the Vonderschmidt Cafe during normal operating hours. One meal equivalence is permitted for the dinner OR late night period at any of the retail locations including Subway, Logan’s Café, Moench Café, C Store and other late night dining locations. DB Flex Dollars can be used at any of the retail dining locations.

The Upperclassman block plans allow for the swipe to be used at any meal at the Vonderschmidt Café. The block plans also allow for the swipe to be used for a meal equivalence for lunch, dinner or late night at Moench Café, Logan’s at the Library, Subway, C Store and other late night dining locations. Specific meal alternative information is available at each location and on the Café Bon Appetit Rose-Hulman Dining website.

Meal swipes are deposited onto cards at the start of every quarter, and do not roll over from quarter to quarter. The cost of your meal plan will be added to your tuition account. For questions concerning selection or changes to your meal plan, contact Lyndi Bahr in the Student Affairs office.

Students may dine, purchase items to go, or just grab a cup of coffee. Unspent DB Flex Dollars DO rollover from quarter to quarter, but are forfeited at the end of the academic year. DB Flex Dollars are not refundable.

Express Account An Express Account is a declining balance account that is linked to your ID card and enables you to use your ID card to pay for laundry and on-campus meals/food. Unused Express Account balances roll over from year-to-year. Unspent balances less than $25 at withdrawal or graduation will be forfeited. Refunds of balances greater than $25 will be issued if requested in writing within 90 days after withdrawal or graduation from Rose-Hulman. Written requests should be submitted to the Student Financial Services office. All refund requests are subject to a $25 administrative fee. Balances remaining past 90 days after separation will be forfeited.

Unused Meals Refunds of unused meal plan swipes are not available to students who leave the Institute at the end of a quarter. A student that withdraws from the institute early, may be entitled to a pro-rata refund of the unused meal swipes.

Meal Plan Calendar  Meals will be provided for first year students attending the New Student Orientation.  Fall Quarter meal plans are valid starting on Sunday dinner before classes begin and end with dinner on Thursday of finals week.  Winter Quarter meal plans are valid starting with Sunday dinner before classes begin and end with dinner on Thursday of finals week. 5/10/2018  Spring Quarter meal plans are valid beginning with Sunday dinner on the day before classes begin and end with dinner on Thursday of finals week.  Meal plan swipes will not be available during Thanksgiving, Holiday, winter break or spring break.
