The judges will be looking for outstanding performances and are free to nominate as many skaters as they wish. Nominations are based not on technical difficulty, but on theatrical performance. The judges will look for character portrayal, interpretation of music, theatrics, emotion, entertainment value, etc.

At the end of the day, there will be six skate offs. The event levels are as follows: • Singles o Compete USA o No-Test – Juvenile o Intermediate – Senior o Adult • Duets, etc. o Basics – No Test o Pre-Preliminary – Senior

The skate offs will run in the order they are listed above with winners being announced after their respective skate off before the following skate off begins. It is possible for a skater to be nominated in more than one event. In this case, we ask that you prepare for the second skate off as quickly as possible, and we will do our best to leave you enough time to do so. If a skater only wishes to participate in one skate off, they may choose to do so. The skater must advise the registration table of their decision.

Singles athletes begin with Compete USA competitions. Once athletes begin the official U.S. Figure Skating test structure, they can choose to enter the Excel, Well‐Balanced or Adult levels as appropriate for their ability, test level, and age. Test requirements are the same for the Excel and Well‐Balanced levels. It is completely the choice of the athlete which track to follow; athletes may switch between tracks as best suits their development, but may not enter the same type of event in multiple tracks. Competitive level is determined by highest free skate test passed. Compete USA Snowplow Sam, Basic 1-6, Hockey 1-4, Pre-Free Skate, Free Skate 1-6, Adult 1-6, and specialty events.
