Subject: Pilot Project - Saving Wildlife in Pakistan

1. In order to instill in students love for flora and fauna of their specific region and the spirit to save the endangered species of animals from extinction, they need to be engaged in purposeful activities during the summer vacation.

2. With the above in view, APSACS Sectt has designed some interesting activities for the students of Junior and Middle Sections that will not only develop love for animals in the students but also foster creativity and observational and writing skills. In phase I, the following schools have been earmarked for this project:- a. APS&C Chinar Murree j. APS Junior Sialkot b. APS&C Jutial k. Gar Academy Quetta c. APS&C Skardu l. Gar Academy for Girls Lahore d. APS&C Junior Jhelum m. APS Gar Jnr Lahore e. APS&C Mardan n. APS&C Badin f. APS Cherat o. APS COD Karachi g. APS&C Girls Peshawar p. APS Humayun Road, Rwp h. APS&C Bahawalpur q. APS Kallar Kahar i. APS&C Mailsi 3. The schools quoted above should share the following with the students. The best 10 x projects from each school should be sent to APSACS Sectt once the schools reopen after the summer break. Name, class and passport size picture of the child should also be sent to the Sectt along with the project. The same will be shared with the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) for publication in their international magazine and displaying on their website. The remaining projects must be displayed in the school gallery and images may be shared with the APSACS Sectt.

4. Details of the activities are given as under:- Level Activity Class I – III Design a postcard of 4” x 6” dimension on the subject topic. Any medium can be used but the idea should be original and creative. Class IV – VI Students will paste actual photograph (4” x 6”) of the endangered animal with the original background as captured through camera and record information that they learned about the threatened species as given below:  Name:  Habitat:  Location:  Food Sources:  Characteristics:  Unique behaviors:  Biggest threat to their survival:  An action that they can take as kids to help prevent it from extinction (source of information must be authentic and mentioned underneath). Class VI –IX Students will create visual representation of an endangered species of their specific region through a short documentary film (not exceeding 3 minutes). Students should also include the purpose of the documentary, how the extinction can harm eco system, and the realistic measures they can take to protect potentially endangered species.
