Please note that this position is within the criteria of ‘regulated activity’ and requires an Enhanced Disclosure Check and Barring List Check – Children and Adult Workforce. The cost of which will be met by Lifeworks. You will be required to sign up for the update service, the cost of this service is £13.00, the cost to be met by the candidate. It will not be possible to use an existing DBS certificate.

RECRUITMENT OF EX-OFFENDERS This post meets the requirements in respect of exempted questions under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974, any applicants for this post who are offered employment or who become volunteers for this organisation will be subject to a criminal record check from the Disclosure and Barring Service before the appointment is confirmed. This will include details of cautions, reprimands or final warnings as well as convictions. A criminal record will not automatically bar a person from successfully taking up this post.
Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) (Amendment) Order 2002 & 2013 Lifeworks is exempt from the provisions of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 by virtue of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 for positions involving regular contact with young people or a vulnerable client group. Applicants for these positions are not therefore statutorily excused from the obligation to disclose spent convictions where a question is asked in order to assess their suitability for work. Failure to disclose a spent conviction that is not regarded as “protected” will be considered proper grounds for that person to be refused employment or engagement.

ROBINS RATES OF PAY
Full time equivalent basic salary £13,520.00 - £17284.80 (dependent on experience) Basic Hourly Rate £6.50- £8.31 per hour (dependent on experience) Week-end Premium £1.65 per hour Night Premium £1.89 per hour
JOB PURPOSE
Care Workers at Robins are expected to work as a team member with the responsibility to ensure the safety, physical, emotional, social welfare and development of the children and young people is maintained and high professional standards are achieved.
Care Worker – Grade 3 - Job Description
DIRECT CHILDCARE 1. Participate in creating an enjoyable, comfortable and safe living environment within Robins’ aims and objectives 2. Deliver high standards of personal care within the boundaries of choice, dignity and respect 3. Ensure Safeguarding issues are pursued 4. Support and enable the young people to participate in appropriate leisure activities 5. Involvement in the implementation of life skills training in accordance with the Lifeworks philosophy 6. Lead outdoor activities 7. Involvement in the audit of Care Plans
INDIRECT CHILDCARE 1. Maintain written records and reports for the young people in accordance with Lifeworks policy 2. Act as key worker and an advocate for specific young people and liaise with families/ carers, schools and other appropriate agencies 3. Involvement in the development and implementation of individual care plans and risk assessments 4. Prepare reports for reviews and other professional meetings
