OUR ATTITUDE Hard work and effort is a choice. You don’t have to be bigger or faster than your opponent to outwork him. Make a decision to outwork your opponent and give max effort each day.

Don’t settle for being average. It takes more to be a champion.

Team = Family I. Anyone involved in the program is a member of our family  We do things together – on and off the field. Get to know your brother.  We reflect and represent each other  Don’t do anything to anything to embarrass yourself, our family, or the Lanier Vikings – in class, on the field, at home II. What can you do to help the team?  When playing – know your role, do your 1/11th  When not playing (most important) – support and encourage your teammates.

On the Field I. Temperament – how do you handle your emotions (calm and collected OR angry and frustrated) II. Poise – how do you respond to difficult situations (blame others and quit OR encourage teammates and try harder) III. Anticipation (mental and physical) – did you do everything to prepare for your opponent IV. Hustle – full effort, from pre-game warm-ups until the final whistle has blown Off the Field (Where most of life is spent) I. Always strive to show class  In the classroom – be respectful at all times to all people and property  In everyday life – at home, with friends, etc. II. Make good decisions.  “Don’t regret tomorrow what you’ve done today.” – J. Anderson Team Standards I. Appropriate dress on and off the field – practice clothes, uniforms II. Do you really have the desire to learn, get better, and be a part of the Viking Football family? Your Development as a Football Player I. Depends on your commitment level, work ethic, and mental focus  How you practice – do things right  Work to improve. If you’re not getting better, you’re getting worse. – change bad habits/techniques  Be coachable – willing to listen, learn, and change  One step at a time – keep it simple, focus on the task at hand II. When to change  When you continue to fail, fix it now! If you don’t know how, ask a coach.  If you’re not satisfied with your results (running, blocking, throwing, catching)  Learn from others who succeed. Watch how they work and do what they do III.
