GENERAL POLICY:

(a). There will be no midterm examination and no final examination for EGN 3443 in the Fall semester of 2002. Instead, three 75-minute examinations will be given. Each exam will be worth 25% of the course grade. In addition, there will be a statistics project assigned. The project will be worth 5% of the course total.

The exact date of examination will be announced one week in advance in class.

Exam No. 1 (Roughly lectures 1-11) Exam No. 2 (Roughly lectures 13-19) Exam No. 3 (Roughly lectures 21-27) Project (Roughly lectures 29-30)

(b). Homework assignments will be given in class daily throughout the semester. They are due at the beginning of the next class meeting time. No late homework will be accepted for credit. The total homework grade will be worth 20% of the course grade.

(c). The homework assignments will also be posted in the class Blackboard website after lecture. You are encouraged to browse it at

http://campus.fsu.edu

TEACHING/GRADING ASSISTANT:

Mr. Andre Bilder is the teaching assistant of our class. His assistant duties will include the grading of daily homework assignments, examinations, and project, as well as holding help-sessions/office hours to help answering homework questions that you may have. His office hours, voice mail, and e-mail address are posted in the upper right-hand corner of this page. A secured Blackboard website is being setup so that you may review your own record on homework, exam, and project grades. You may also post questions related to the lectures/homework on the Discussion Board for discussions.

GRADING POLICIES:

The weights for the course grade will be as follows:

Exam No. 1 25% Exam No. 2 25% Exam No. 3 25% Project 5% Homework 20%

Any questions concerning your grades should be addressed to the teaching assistant during his office hours or by e-mail.

COURSE GRADE ASSIGNMENT:

The letter grades will be assigned according to the following scale:

A = 90% and up B = 80% and up C = 70% and up D = 60% and up F = below 60%.

I. Come to class well prepared:

a. Starting from Day 1, read the subjects to be covered before attending my lectures. b. Keep up with my lectures. Take good notes and review them each night. c. Ask questions, if you don’t understand them.

II. After each lecture, you are urged to

a. Spend one to two hours each day reviewing the material you just learned.

b. Practice the new skills learned today to solve statistical problems.

c. Do the assigned homework immediately. Never put off the assignments until the due date or later.
