Midday Meals Supervisor Job Description

Post: Midday Meals Supervisor

Responsible to: Headteacher

Liaison with: Headteacher, School Staff and Pupils

Function: To deal with all aspects of the supervision of children during the midday break to ensure their wellbeing and health and safety.

Duties and Responsibilities

The duties will be allocated by the Headteacher and will include:

1. Responsibility to the Headteacher for the supervision of children throughout the midday break.

2. Responsibility for setting out dining room chairs in preparation for the first sitting.

3. Ensuring supervision of the children waiting to enter the dining hall.

4. Ensuring supervision of the dining hall and preparation for the second sitting.

5. Supervision of all areas both inside and outside, where the pupils congregate during lunchtime.

6. Checking to see that all the pupils return to the classroom.

7. Ensuring that first aid is administered in accordance with the Health and Safety Policy and that accidents and injuries are recorded in accordance with our policy.

8. Reporting any injuries or behavioural issues to the relevant class teacher at the end of the lunch break.

9. Supporting and leading pupils during the lunch break to participate in organised games and ensuring that outdoor equipment is available daily.

10. Liaising with class teachers to provide appropriate indoor activity when the weather prevents children from playing outside.

11. Working in collaboration with colleagues as part of a small team.

12. Supporting pupils to resolve disagreement in line with the school code of conduct and expectations of behaviour.

13. Following the school’s behaviour policy to deal with any poor behaviour.

14. Carrying out any other reasonable instructions given by the Headteacher.
