Pickaway County Family and Children First Council Meeting Minutes November 21, 2013 ESC
In Attendance:

The meeting was called to order at 9:05 AM by Debbie Hoffman.
Adopt the Agenda – Debbie reviewed the agenda.
Secretary’s Report Minutes from the September 19, 2013 retreat were reviewed. A motion was made by Rosemary Starkey to approve the minutes, Pam Hively seconded. Motion passed unanimously.
Executive Committee Report No report.
Finance Committee Report Financial reports were reviewed by Shannon Clark. Pam Hively made the motion, Joy Ewing seconded. Motion passed.
Bylaws Committee Report Mike Pelcic gave the report and reviewed the proposed amendments to the bylaws. Mike Pelcic motioned to approve the amendments to the bylaws, Ty Ankrom seconded. Motion passed unanimously.
Service Coordination Review Committee Report
Nate Tatman gave the report. The committee met on Monday. The meeting discussed ground rules of the committee and will meet quarterly and discuss five cases. There is good representation on the committee including DD, Children Services, Schools and Parent Representation. Children’s Trust Fund Report Nate Tatman gave the report. Incredible Years will start again at the YMCA on January 27, 28, and 29th. Will have two session each day and on Saturday with meals and child care provided. Danielle mentioned people on wait list will be taken.
Needs & Gaps Committee Report Formerly known as the Core HB289 Committee, has not met and no report.
ECCC Committee Report Angie Overholt reported the committee has not met since last meeting, but next scheduled meeting is 12/13/13 at ESC @12:30 p.m.
Teen Task Force Report Aimee Roberts reported the committee met on October 29th, 2013. Aimee discussed a grant that could possibly fund Rachel’s Challenge (an anti-bullying project) that the Teen Task Force has researched Grant is due 12/31/13. Danielle will continue to look at other funding. Next meeting will be January 14th, 2014.
Parent Advisory Council Report Connie Hardesty reported. Connie stated the need for support for grandparents raising grandchildren. Danielle suggested continued discussion about more involvement for support groups at the YMCA and Developmental Disabilities. Danielle stated there needs to be more voices at the table.
T.E.A.M. Report Danielle gave the report. Danielle reported three families were referred with one family having five children. Danielle talked about the impact on the family.
Help Me Grow Report Aimee Roberts gave the report. Aimee has been focusing on getting the word out on Home Visiting services offered through HMG. Regionalization of central coordination is being considered. This is a mixed message at this time. Aimee shared information ADEP training which enables a local team and pediatrician to make autism diagnosis for children under three years old.
Old Business Danielle discussed and presented the new Family & Children First Council 101that can be found on the Pickaway County Family & Children First website.
New Business Danielle reviewed and updated the current mandated and non-mandated voting membership of the FCFC. AGENCY UPDATES
Debbie Hoffman announced Ashville Early Head Start has room for 2 children at this time. Ages are 0-3 years of age. Class time is from 7 a.m. – 6 p.m. Monday thru Friday.
Elaine Miller announced the Health Department has flu shots available for children up to 18 years of age.
Mike Pelcic announced PCBDD is having Breakfast with Santa on December 13th, 2013.
Nick Tatman announced the “Bike Lady” will be donating 50 bikes again this year to needy families. Please call Nick for details.
Joy Ewing announced Jobs One Stop will be changing names to Ohio Means Jobs Pickaway County. Originally the name change was to happen January 1st but has been postponed until 3/31/14. Joy also mentioned the recent Medicaid Expansion has a new reporting website.
Andrew Binegar reported the Toys For Tots program will be in full swing December 9th.
Nikki Salvatory reported Berger has started a “Friendly Visitor” volunteer program for the elderly.
Kimberly Weaver discussed her church initiatives and the Poverty Task Force. Danielle suggested the ministerial association be contacted. Ty explained the frustration with other churches.
Penny Dehner discussed issues revolving around Medicaid Expansion and men’s substance abuse. Penny stated once the Expansion goes into effect, a men’s substance abuse clinic will almost happen immediately. Penny also stated the second Crisis Intervention Training (with local law enforcement) is completed and the third training is scheduled for June 2014.
Aimee Roberts passed out a brochure entitled – “Home Visiting Program Professional’s Resource”
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 10:45 AM.
