Catalog Description:

82 – Designing Web Pages 3 units

Design and enhance Web Pages using creative web site design principles, basic HTML formatting and Microsoft© Office Suite applications. Includes creating and editing links and using pictures, graphics, shared borders, themes and tables. Includes publishing a website. Strongly recommended: Computer Application Systems 50 or Computer Application Systems 8 or Computer Science 8. 2 hours lecture, 2 hours laboratory. [Typical contact hours: lecture 35, laboratory 35]

None

Expected Outcomes for Students:

Upon completion of the course the students should be able to:

1. define terminology associated with the Internet and the World Wide Web; 2. apply principles of basic HTML formatting; 3. develop and maintain a web site; 4. use editing and formatting skills; 5. use graphics and other web page enhancements; 6. identify web publishing and search techniques; 7. integrate a database.

Course Content:

1. Creating and revising Web pages 2. HTML tags 3. Creating tables and databases 4. Creating Web sites with shared borders, themes, graphics and pictures 5. Publishing a Web site

1. Lecture 2. Demonstration 3. Computer generated presentations using PowerPoint and CD’s 4. Hands-on computer assignments
