Organized by the Equipment & Finance Bureau, the Public Security Bureau and the First Research Insititute of Ministry of Public Security (MPS), Co-organized by China Jing An Import Export Corporation and China Promotion Ltd, the 4th China International Exhibition on Police Equipment (China Police 2008) was successfully held in Beijing Exhibition Center, 16-19 April 2008.

In the evening of April 17, Mr. Zhou Yongkang, member of The Politburo Standing Committee of the Communist Party of China (PSC) and Committee member of the State Council visited the exhibition accompanied by Mr. Meng Jianzhu, Minister of Public Security; Mr. Liu Jinguo and Mr. Meng Hongwei, Deputy Ministers of Public Security, Mr. Zhu Chunlin, Secretary of Commission for Discipline Inspection of MPS and Mr. Sun Yongbo, Minister Assistant.

Globally recognized and the most authoritative expo in domestic industry, China Police 2008 drew over 300 exhibitors from 16 countries and regions around the world including world branded companies such as Augustawestland, Beretta, BMW, EADS, Motorola and Landrover. Compared with the first expo in 2002, China Police 2008 has tripled its size to 30,000 sq.m, occupying the whole Beijing Exhibition Center except for the Reporting Hall. Over 70% of the exhibitors were satisfied with attending this exhibitions, and 45% of them acquired orders on site. 93% of the international exhibitors have confirmed their participation in the next expo in 2010.

The expo has also proved to be a world- class event by attracting more than 10,000 trade buyers from 40 countries and regions including France, Germany, Hong Kong, Korea, Singapore, Taiwan, the U.K. and the U.S.A. Local visitors were from the departments of MPS, The Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA), The People's Armed Police Force (PAP), the J udicial System, Courts, Procuratorates, Customs, Monetary Security Offices and Research Institutes at all levels across the country. The focus was put on attracting quality visitors from related departments with a clear purpose and strong purchasing intentions, rather than just on quantity of visitors.

Exhibition Highlights

- Sorted by categories Exhibitors were spilt into specialist categories in different halls, making it convenient for trade buyers to easily locate suppliers in their particular field. Nine major categories were covered, which provided one-stop vital sourcing platform for both exhibitors and trade buyers.

- Concurrent Forum With a theme of “The market requests and developing trend of police equipment in China” China International Police Forum 2008 was held concurrently with the exhibition. 3 major components are:

1. Main Forum. A speech entitled “The developing trend of police equipment” was presented by Mr. Mao Fujin, Deputy Director of the Equipment & Finance Bureau of the MPS to propose key points and forecast trends in the development of China’s police equipment in the next 5-10 years. Presentations related to this topic were also given by Mr. Tao Junsheng, Deputy Director of the Police Aviation Management Office of the MPS and Mr.Xu Hu, Deputy Director of the Security Administration of the MPS in their own field.

2. Helicopter Application. The Helicopter Application Section was hosted by the Police Aviation Management Office of the MPS. Speakers were from the Police Air Force as well as the Public Security Bureau of Shan’xi Province, Guangdong Province, Nanjing City and Zhengzhou City. Commercial seminars were given by domestic and international enterprises.

3. Exchanges among the local public security departments and police equipment Enterprises This section aimed to be a platform for dialogues between companies and public security bureaus to build up mutual understanding and supply foundation.

- Evening banquet The organizing committee held an evening banquet on 16th April 2008 to show the appreciation for the support from the exhibitors and government officials. The banquet was in the form of a cocktail reception in order to facilitate direct communication between officials from the MPS and the exhibitors. Over 120 attendees including Deputy Ministers of Public Security, heads of bureaus of the MPS and the Department of Public Security in provinces, cities and autonomous, police officials from embassies as well as decision makers from worldwide enterprises were present at the banquet. - Signing Ceremony A Signing Ceremony was held on 17th April. A sum of nearly 100 Million RMB worth contracts were signed during the exhibition period, which means the exhibition created visible profit for exhibitors.
