2018 MYFA Coaches Conduct Statement
As the head coach of a Metro Youth Football Association (“MYFA”) spring league team, you are a representative to the public of MYFA. Your conduct and the conduct of your assistant coaches will be the basis of how parents, players and the general public view the organization. You are responsible for your actions, the actions of your coaching staff and the action of your players. The manner in which your practices are conducted and your sideline behavior on game day MUST reflect MYFA values and beliefs.
All complaints pertaining to practice or games will be investigated immediately. Vulgar language, abusive physical actions, verbally derogatory comments, or similar behavior by a MYFA Head or Assistant Coach during practice or a game will not be tolerated. If any such behavior does occur, the Board of Directors of MYFA, in its sole discretion, may immediately dismal the coach from the MYFA program or suspend the coach from future MYFA events.
Unsportsmanlike Conduct Penalties received by coaches, the bench, or the sideline will be addressed promptly. Disciplinary action for any such penalties will be based on these guidelines:
i. If the infraction is the result of the behavior by the head coach or an assistant coach, then the head coach and the offending assistant coach are suspended for the next game. ii. If the infraction is the result of the behavior of a player, that player is suspended for the next game. iii. However, if the infraction is especially severe, the MYFA Board of Directors has discretion to impose a longer suspension to the coach or player.
Ejection from a Game: Any coach, parent, or player relative ejected from a game will be asked to immediately leave the playing field area, and go to his or her car until the completion of the game. If the ejected person needs to pick up his or her player after the game’s conclusion, then the person may wait in the parking lot to do so. Disciplinary action will be based on these guidelines:
i. First Ejection of Season: One game suspension for the player of the ejected parent or relative. ii. Second Ejection of Season: Dismissal of the player from the MYFA program. iii. This rule applies to any parent or relative regardless of his or her position with the team, as a coach or assistant coach, chain gang member, or attending the game as an observer.
Unsportsmanlike Conduct Penalties and Ejections from games are cumulative during the season.
Head coaches are also responsible for the actions of the parents on their team. You are responsible to know and abide by the conduct expectations included in the tackle league rules.
Failure to follow the expectations listed above or inappropriate behavior observed by Board of Directors, President, or any Vice Presidents of MYFA may result in immediate termination from the MYFA program, or, removal from the event being attended.
I have read and fully understand this Coach’s Conduct Statement and MYFA’s expectations of me, and accept this as part of my commitment to MYFA.
